Health/Physical Education

Health/Physical Education is a required course for all 9th grade students. Students will study topics related to mental health, nutrition, chemical and substance abuse, safety and first aid, chronic diseases and family life. Physical Education activities will emphasize physical fitness, games, sports, and recreational activities one can pursue through adulthood. This course must be successfully completed in order to graduate.

Advanced Physical Education

This course is designed to help the student develop individual and team skills in physical activities. Activities will include tennis, basketball, volleyball, football, handball, ultimate frisbee, cooperative team games, soccer, and fitness & conditioning. Active participation is required of all students. This course may be repeated for credit.

Girls’ Weight Training and Conditioning

Girls’ Weight Training and Conditioning is designed for the female student who is interested in building body strength, stamina, and physical endurance. It addresses overall physical conditioning and includes running, calisthenics, agility drills, and weightlifting. Total physical development and cardiovascular integrity are emphasized. Active participation is required of all students, including athletes “in season.” This course may be repeated for credit.
