AFJROTC Leadership Lab I

The course is designed to acquaint hand-selected cadets to application of leadership techniques. These cadets will serve as role models, and assistant instructors for JROTC I and II cadets (ASI’s Lead Lab classes). They are to complete 3-4 major projects which will be assigned to them by the ASI at the beginning of the semester. Leadership Lab Cadets will also develop, demonstrate, and present basic cadet knowledge to their assigned classes. These Lead Lab Cadets will also serve in key cadet staff positions within the core. ROTC IV

95012X04

Aerospace Science IV/Leadership Education IV cadets are chosen by the instructors in consultation with the principal. Selection is based on the cadets’ prior performance in the classroom, demonstrated commitment to the AFJROTC program, and performance in leadership positions. The academic part of the course provides exposure to the fundamentals of management. The text contains many leadership topics that will benefit students as well as provide them with some of the necessary skills needed to put into practice what they have learned during their time in AFJROTC. We are confident this course, coupled with what they have already learned during their time in AFJROTC, will equip them with the qualities needed to serve in leadership positions with the corps. Throughout the text are many ethical dilemmas, case studies, and role play activities built into the lessons. These activities are based on real life experiences and will allow students the opportunity to practice what they learn by getting involved in discussions and expressing their opinions. Additionally, cadets in AS IV manage the entire cadet corps. This hands-on experience affords cadets the opportunity to put the theories of previous leadership courses into practice by planning, directing, coordinating, controlling and making decisions regarding the operation of the cadet corps as a community service oriented school organization. Additional materials from the Global and Cultural Studies curriculum may also be offered.
