Curriculum Innovation

I completely understand and remember what it was like to be a first year AP teacher so I am always happy to help others who are just coming in to this realm.

AP STATISTICS OF ART DESIGN 2D AND 3D

AUGUST 2019

I have been teaching AP Art and Design for the past six years at ASFM. I believe that every year I become a better teacher to my students. I have had the opportunity to attend two AP Summer Institutes and on July 2019 I got to present at the AP National Conference in Orlando, Florida.

PROPOSED A NEW CLASS FOR 2019-2020: THE VISUAL ART JOURNAL 10-12

OCTOBER 2018

This class will be offered to 10th-12th grade students. The main objective is to have a class where students can merge words and images and express their feelings. This class ties into the social-emotional learning that ASFM is bringing into our school. I believe this class is a pathway for students to move into that direction.

Visual Art Journal: a place where text + imagery come together

Each student will have their own journal to work on their pieces

PROPOSED A NEW CLASS FOR 2014-2015: AP STUDIO ART 3D DESIGN

JANUARY 2014

Following the success of the AP 2D Design class has had this year, I proposed to also offer the 3D class for next school year.

This gives students the opportunity to take both classes during their last two years in high school and also creating opportunities for them to have diverse approaches to art creation.

PROPOSED A NEW CLASS FOR 2013-2014: AP STUDIO ART 2D DESIGN

JANUARY 2013

I created a proposal to offer the AP Studio Art 2D Design class during the next school year. The nature of this class allows for students to explore any technique and medium approach on a two-dimensional surface. After discussing this with Catherine Spencer at length, the class will be offered to 11th and 12th grade students.
