Task Force

BENEFITS COMMITTEE TASK FORCE

SCHOOL YEAR 2015-2016

I joined the Benefits Committee led by Brad Brandvold, Dr. Adams and several Board members. For one year we met regularly to go over the current benefits teachers receive and how they can be improved and/or modified.

By the end of the year we were able to make positive changes regarding:

-Health insurance

-Personal/sick days

-Caja de Ahorro

-Aguinaldo

-Cafeteria food coupons

and other aspects as well. Overall these changes were well received by staff and we hope to keep improving on them.

MSHS ELECTIVES TASK FORCE

SCHOOL YEAR 2013-2014

I have joined forces with Dee Norman, Rebecca Simpson, Daniel Marines and Adeel Farouk as part of the Electives Task Force. Our focus is on the elective classes and how we can make changes so that students have more choice.

We are going to look into what we offer and analyze its effectiveness and relevance. This, of course, has a tie in with scheduling so later on in the year we are going to get together with the scheduling Task Force to see where they are and how we can work side by side. Hopefully we will be able to create changes that have a positive effect on our students.

Our PLC is working on finding out some information about the Electives that we currently offer and any possible Electives you would be interested in teaching. Based on the information we compile, we will be sending students a survey to find out what Electives they would be interested in taking.

Based on the survey we created and asked MS teachers to answer, we now have an idea of other elective classes that can be offered to our students.

ADVISORY TASK FORCE

SCHOOL YEAR 2011-2012

Ronald Lalonde, the current MS Principal, is implementing a new program called "Advisory" for the middle school students.

The main idea is to create smaller groups of 14-15 students per teacher and to meet at least once a week. During this time together the students and teachers will have time to bond and get to know each other more.

I decided to join this task force because the little I know about this program, I have enjoyed and I want to learn more and help it grow in our middle school.
