LIVE CURIOUS, GO BEYOND: LET'S PAINT A MURAL!

FEBRUARY 2020

LCGB: Mural Painting with Tar and Acrylic

The workshop was attended by 18 teachers and the result was beautiful!

The workshop I am offering at this year's LCGB conference involves the awareness of how La Huasteca is being destroyed by the uncontrolled developments that are being built inside of it without any restrictions.

The attendees collaborated in the painting of a 10-panel mural of three mountains that have been visually merged and were painted using tar and acrylics.

I prepared the canvases so that we could maximize the time to paint.

I was inspired by these images of la Huasteca

TRI-ASSOCIATION SLAM PRESENTATION

OCTOBER 2019

Mindful Check-ins 2019

During a full day of PD we were asked to highlight the main points and desired results of our presentation at Tri-Association with the full MSHS staff in a 60 second SLAM format.

The SLAM format requires presenters to stand around the outside of their audience and present for 60 seconds (the timer will be running), before the crowd shifts their attention to the next presenter.

TRI-ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE

SEPTEMBER 2019

I had the incredible opportunity to be a presenter at the Tri-Association Conference that took place at ASFM this year. I co-presented with Mary Brey, a former ASFM teacher, who is working on the usage of visual scales to "check-in" with people, be it students, colleagues, family members, etc., regarding their emotional well being.

We got to tell our stories about how we started using them and the results we have had because of them. I started using the scales with my Access last school year and we created a positive community where students felt safe and took risks.

By the end of the presentation, the attendees understood where we were coming from and why this is important to us. But most importantly, they got to see how they can also use the scales in their classrooms as well.

AP ANNUAL CONFERENCE

JULY 2019 ORLANDO, FLORIDA

ALE CANTU AP CONF.pptx

I presented at the AP Annual Conference in Orlando, Fl.

The focus of my presentation was to teach first year AP Art and Design teachers the basics so that they are prepared for their first year.

This is my first year attending and presenting at this conference. It was eye-opening to see the amount of educators that are involved with the AP curriculum. The conversations I was able to have with fellow colleagues was enriching and inspiring as were the sessions themselves.

UNIFIED CLASSROOM TRAINING TO G11 TEAM

MAY 2019

Joelle Hernandez and I presented the Unified Classroom to the Grade 11 team. We created a presentation that we shared with them and went over the basic features of the new Learning Management System.
