nex+Gen Engineering takes on Miner Mayhem!
Our students went head-to-head with hundreds of competitors at New Mexico Tech’s Miner Mayhem—and they showed up BIG!
Their hard work, creativity, and grit were on full display, along with incredible sportsmanship every step of the way.
Shoutout to our winners: Gage Babb – 3rd place in the 150g robot category
Robbie Yatsattie & Von (Mya) Bitsilly – 1st place in the MESA Bot Outlaw category
We couldn’t be prouder of this team. The future of engineering is looking bright at nex+Gen!
The Digital Film Production and Art II classes joined forces to create silent films for a second film festival this school year! Over the course of several weeks, teams with students from both classes worked together to write, produce, and edit films of a variety of genres, using the unique skills of each team member. Some teams even recruited actors from other classes! The process was the epitome of project-based learning, helping students practice collaboration skills, planning and logistics, and storytelling in an iterative, multi-step effort. We are so proud of the work of these students and look forward to seeing what they create next!
Enjoy the silent films below!
Three nex+Gen student film projects were selected for the Albuquerque Museum’s “Focus On Youth” exhibition from May 2 – May 31, 2026. Our school accounts for 3 of the 7 student films to be exhibited!

Nex+Gen Academy had a truly successful Alumni Day today! It was wonderful to see old friends reconnect, share stories, and reminisce about their time at nex+Gen. Alumni from our very first graduating class in 2013, all the way through the Class of 2025, were in attendance, making it a special and meaningful event across generations.
A heartfelt thank you to Ms. Floyd for organizing such a fantastic event, and to our generous parents who donated food for the banquet. Your support helped make the day memorable for everyone involved.
Senior Finals for eCademy will be on May 6th and 7th. Please schedule with Ms. Hastings.
