Dear nex+Gen Community,
As we approach the final stretch of the school year, we want to take a moment to recognize an important milestone—today was the last day for our seniors! We congratulate them on reaching this significant point in their journey and look forward to celebrating their achievements at graduation.
For the rest of our students, just three weeks remain. This is a critical time to stay focused and finish strong. Final exams are approaching, and we encourage you to support your student in staying organized, maintaining good study habits, and giving their best effort.

We were so happy to have a chance to welcome Sonja Martens from the APS Education Foundation to our school. Our goal was to show her the progress that we’ve made thanks to their generous grant in the areas of
Volunteering at Roadrunner Food Bank
Creating a Nex+Gen Garden
Establishing a Compost system at Nex+Gen
Recycling food from the cafeteria and redistributing it so it does not go to waste
Researching laws and legislative options for reducing food waste in our communities
Beautifying our Campus
Coordinating Food and Clothing Drives to help teens and families
Making our community aware of the Food for Thought project and keeping it sustainable
We are working hard on every single one of these components as a school. We took Sonja on a tour of the school to show her our progress. Stay tuned for more Food for Thought updates
We’re proud that Dylan Malone will be recognized as the APS Student of the Week on May 26th!
Dylan is known for his incredible ability to build community and foster strong connections with his fellow students. Whether through a warm conversation or a helping hand, he’s always working to make our school a more inclusive and welcoming place.
His passion for leadership shines through in his favorite class, Student Government, where he helps plan exciting events that bring everyone together. Dylan’s creativity and commitment play a big role in shaping the positive culture we enjoy at school.
Beyond academics, Dylan is also a proud member of the jazz band Sol Flower.
Looking ahead, Dylan plans to attend the University of New Mexico (UNM), and we have no doubt he’ll continue to make a difference wherever he goes.
Congratulations, Dylan! Thank you for everything you do to lift up our community — your enthusiasm, kindness, and leadership inspire us all.
members of the nex+Gen Academy Chapter of the National Honor Society participated in a tree planting event in the Mountain View community in the south valley of Albuquerque. This has been part of our ongoing effort to serve our community in a variety of ways, as well as welcome newly inducted members to the work of NHS. Overall, their involvement with multiple teams led to the planting of 107 trees in this south valley community.
nex+Gen seniors Aiden Martinez and Elijah Wigge work on there CPR technique with the support of Mr. Salazar.
We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our incredible school community for your generous support and thoughtful contributions to Staff Appreciation Day!
Thanks to your donations, kind words, and creative gestures, our staff felt truly seen, celebrated, and appreciated.
Your involvement reminded us just how special the nex+Gen community is — one where students, families, and staff all work together to create a positive, caring environment.
Last week, we bid a fond and festive farewell to the amazing Class of 2025 with a day full of fun, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
The celebration kicked off early in the morning as seniors arrived for the time-honored tradition of the senior prank. With creativity and humor, they "decorated" the school one last time, leaving their playful mark and plenty of smiles behind.
Later in the day, the entire school community came together to officially send off our seniors in style. Students enjoyed jumpies, water games, dodgeball, and more.
And of course, no celebration would be complete without great food! A lineup of food trucks served up tasty treats to keep the fun going all afternoon.
This day wasn’t just a sendoff — it was a celebration of all the hard work, friendships, and memories the Class of 2025 has built over the years. We’re proud of all they’ve accomplished and can’t wait to see what they’ll achieve next.
Congratulations, Class of 2025! You’ll always be a part of our school family
