Food Drive: Hello Griffin families! This year, our ambassador team and student government have worked to partner with the RoadRunner Food Bank to bring back a well-loved tradition here at Nex+gen Academy, you called it, a food drive! We ask students to bring in NON-PERISHABLE FOOD ONLY, these can be items like canned goods, dry goods, and even bottled drinks. We ask all items to have a label and nutritional value to make it easier for our partners. This drive will take place throughout the months of October - December, and students can drop items off in their humanities class. Let's bring the spirit of these holidays and help out where we can (pun intended). As always, have a Nex+gen day!
Food Distribution at Del Norte High School: The monthly Roadrunner food distribution at Del Norte is held on the first Thursday of each month from 4:00 PM-5:30 PM in the cafeteria.

Ready, Set, Debate
The Nex+ Gen Speech and Debate team has participated in a multitude of competitions this school year. We kicked off our season with a group of students catching the train to Santa Fe to participate in Capitol Congress. Next, students tackled the role of legal counsel and worked with lawyers from across the city to practice utilizing legal precedent when arguing in court. Finally, our students went back to the world of Congress to debate issues ranging from the United States' role in the International Criminal Court, parking infrastructure, and independent redistricting. For more information about the Nex+ Gen Speech and Debate team, contact April Kinney @ kinney_a@aps.edu.
Science Bowl
We have started a Science Bowl club at nex+Gen! Science Bowl is a fast-paced team trivia competition that tests students' science and math knowledge. We meet every Thursday after school in 202, Dr. Merewether's room, from 3:30 - 4:30. We're preparing to attend the regional competition in March, where we will compete against other high schools from around the state for a chance to go on an all-expenses-paid trip to the national championship in Washington, D.C.! Up to 3 teams of 5 can compete at regionals, and we have many spots still open! Interested students should plan to attend our after-school meetings. For more information, please contact James Goodman at james.goodman@aps.edu.
Visit the Counseling Google Site for upcoming events, scholarship information, career goals, information about how to write a business plan, student and parent resources, and mental health resources. You can also contact the counselor hastings_c@aps.edu and set up an appointment to meet.
