Three Nex+ Gen students—Kai, Brooklynn, and Jordan—represented South Africa at the Santa Fe Roundhouse during the state’s annual Model United Nations competition. Throughout the event, they honed important skills such as diplomacy, networking, resolution and bill writing, and parliamentary procedure. The students showcased exceptional communication and critical thinking while collaborating with delegates from other countries to address global challenges.
Kai contributed to discussions in the Human Rights Council, Brooklynn worked with delegates in the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to address issues like plastic pollution, mineral mining, and the wildlife trade, and Jordan made significant strides in the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), impressing judges and top coaches alike.
Congratulations to Kai, Brooklynn, and Jordan for setting a high standard for Nex+ Gen. We look forward to their next venture in mock trial!
Nex+Gen Facilitator Dr. Kathleen Neuber has just earned her National Board Certification. This certification involves a 1-3 year process in which candidates submit four components that show evidence of accomplished practice. This is a voluntary process, created by teachers and assessed by teachers. Nex+Gen Academy has the highest percentage on National Board Certified teachers in the state. Congratulations Dr. Neuber

Earlier this month, students had the valuable opportunity to engage with professionals from a wide range of industries during our annual Career Fair. In a small group setting, students could ask questions, learn about different career paths, and gain insights into the skills and qualifications required for various fields. This event allowed them to explore potential career options, network with experts, and receive personalized advice to help guide their future academic and professional decisions.
I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the parents, partners, and volunteers who generously dedicated their time to meet with our students during the Career Fair. Your participation made this event a truly enriching experience.
In the Art room, we just finished our ink and watercolor story of Illustrations. Tenth graders used their magical realism stories as a point of inspiration for two Illustrations. Each Illustration used Ink quill pens for the line drawing part and watercolor for the color part. These amazing artworks will be hanging up all of December.
