Freshman Leah Allison Takes 5th in State Competition: nex+ Gen had its first student qualify for the state’s Courtroom Journalist Competition, Leah Allison. Leah spent all day on Friday, March 20th, listening and taking notes for the trial of The State of New Mexico vs. Bobbie Gurule. She then had until 9 am the next morning to craft her article for the competition. With only 850 words to work with (the competition limit), Leah worked through the night, and as the dawn of a new day approached, the deadline loomed. Finally, with minutes to spare, she submitted her work to the judges. Her indefatigable efforts were enough to secure the fifth-place title and set her up for a possible future in wordsmithing.
Online Registration for 2026-2027: Online Registration for the 2026-2027 School Year is open. If you need assistance with ParentVUE, please contact Ms.Granone at nicole.granone@aps.edu.
Spring Project Showcase- Save the date!!!! April 23rd
Summer School: See below for important summer school information.
We were excited to welcome Dr. Menake Piyasena, Chemistry Professor from NM Tech, to speak with our Chemistry and Environmental Science students!
Dr. Piyasena shared fascinating insights on the impact of plastics in our environment—and even in the human body. He also introduced students to the innovative techniques he and his research team are using to tackle this global challenge, including the use of acoustic waves.
Students also learned about exciting education and research opportunities at NM Tech, opening doors to future pathways in science and engineering.
A big thank you to Dr. Neuber for coordinating this opportunity, and to Dr. Piyasena for inspiring our students and sharing your expertise with our community!
Mr. Sisneros and Ms. Mancha-Garcia show that nex+Gen staff have talent. Check out their performance here: Sisneros and Mancha-Garcia
Our student talent show took place this week during lunch. Winners will be announced soon.
What a great night at nex+Gen! Students came together to relax, connect, and have fun during our Game Night. From fast-paced video games to classic board games, there was something for everyone—and plenty of friendly competition along the way.
Students are beginning to work through the Level All Next Step Plan (NSP). This plan requires students to reflect on their progress toward graduation, post-graduation goals, and interests. As students finish their survey responses, they will send an email request from Level All to their parent/guardian to review and sign their plan.
Once you receive the Level All email request, please read through the email instructions to provide a digital signature approving your student’s NSP. Please ask your student about the NSP process and whether an email has been sent. If the email doesn’t appear in your inbox, please check your junk or spam folder.
This is a graduation requirement, and we are focused on a 100% completion rate. Thank you for supporting your student and the school’s goals by signing your student’s Next Step Plan.
