The Shoremen Football team have had a phenomenal season so far with many unexpected twists and turns. Senior Captain Jake DePaul explains how that is part of the game and all they can do is continue to play. According to DePaul, the team has taken huge strides both individually, and more importantly, as a team since their first game against Strongsville. He feels that having junior quarterback, Jeremy Dzik, quarantined for 2 weeks was a major setback, but it made the Shoremen come together more and now they are back and better than ever. “Personally, I feel as if we haven’t achieved our biggest accomplishment yet and I think the sky’s the limit for this team.” Stated Depaul.
However, he said their week 4 game was pretty incredible, the Shoremen were able to beat the Avon Eagles 30-24. Even though the Shoremen are having an incredible season, Depaul said there are many things the team needs to work on. “We still need to work on our focus and mentality at practice, it has been something we have struggled with all season and last week it caught up to us. Our team chemistry has improved greatly, but that is something that can always be improved no matter the circumstances.” Unfortunately, Avon Lake took their first loss against Berea-Midpark in week 5, 17-23. The Shoremen’s next match up is against the Midview Middies on September 24th, at Midview.
