It’s hard for me to say goodbye to something I love doing so much. The countless hours I spent with Livie and Marcy in The Spectrum office piecing together and writing articles are memories that I will cherish as I look forward to college. Avon Lake and The Spectrum are still a part of who I am and who I will be. I only wish we had more time to properly conclude this past school year.
Learning about journalism, hosting interviews, and editing a paper used to be an event that took me out of my comfort zone. I was shy and afraid to put myself and my work out there. As I continued to gather more experience and tips the process came easier and was fun rather than scary. There are so many skills that I have gained because of my time with The Spectrum.
The Spectrum Office may not look like much from the outside, but it really is a hub of ideas and creative people. Having a quiet place to work and socialize during school hours made all the difference. I hope that any current students interested in writing will step forward, even if it seems scary. I was afraid at first, but the leaders and students involved with The Spectrum helped me get to the point where an interview was second nature and my writing was something to be proud of.
The Spectrum is an amazing club that I am sad to leave behind, but I can’t wait to see where this experience brings me in the future.
