Hi! My name is Rachel Sapola, I am a rising senior, and I am excited to be an Editor-in-Chief of The Spectrum for the 2021-22 school year.
I love writing and I've loved working on The Spectrum since my freshman year as a staff writer for two years and an assistant editor this past year. I've spent my time on The Spectrum mostly editing articles, posting on our Instagram page, and uploading to our website.
This upcoming year, I plan to continue the online version of The Spectrum and hopefully grow our social media presence. My goal is to have a greater number of students reading and writing for the paper. I will also continue to write articles throughout this school year as I continue to grow as both a writer and an editor.
When I'm not working on The Spectrum, I am a competitive figure skater. I am currently competing at the senior level in singles skating and I'm a three-time US Figure Skating Gold Medalist in Moves in the Field, Free Skating, and Solo Free Dance. At the high school, I play cello in Chamber Orchestra and I am a part of our Math Team.
I am looking forward to what this upcoming school year brings and I can't wait to work with Maggi and Yashvita as one of your Editors-in-Chief!
Hi! My name is Maggi Feit, and as we look toward this next school year, it is with great excitement that I introduce myself as one of the next official editors of The Spectrum.
I am an incoming senior here at the high school and have worked as a member of The Spectrum staff for two years. I began writing on The Spectrum in the beginning of my sophomore year, then served as co-editor my junior year, and am excited to take on this new role as official editor for senior year! I feel ready to take on this responsibility; I look forward to working with the wonderful Spectrum staff and continuing to grow and improve the newspaper.
I am very passionate about reading and writing, and appreciate the opportunity to serve as editor and continue to grow as both a writer and an editor. Apart from writing, I enjoy painting and drawing, and spend much of my free time sketching or painting watercolors. I also enjoy playing and listening to music any chance that I have. I am also a member of our school’s Environmental Club, MIND Club, and Spanish Club.
I will be working alongside Yashvita Kanuganti & Rachel Sapola, both of which have great experience working, writing, and creating content for the newspaper. I feel that all three of us will work together to create and document a wonderful final year here at the high school.
Hello everyone! My name is Yashvita Kanuganti, and I’m one of The Spectrum’s co-editors for this school year. I’ve been a part of our paper since my freshman year, when I was a staff writer. Since then, I’ve mainly created our questionnaires and surveys as assistant entertainment editor! I’m ecstatic to work with my co-editors and our staff writers to bring you all the best scoop and carry on the legacy of The Spectrum!
This year, you can expect some more light-hearted pieces and surveys, as well as seasonal selections from me! I hope to bring back our famed “Ask the Student” to get your voice and opinion on certain topics here at the high school.
Along with being an editor, I’m also a member of ALHS’s Diversity Awareness Club, as well as a violinist in the Chamber Orchestra. In regular years, you can find me in the greenhouse during my free periods! Other than that, I write a lot for fun (as I’m sure you can guess), and you can catch me annotating classics like a true English nerd!
I’m very excited to be working with our staff to bring some playfulness to this upcoming school year! There are so many talented people working on our paper, and I hope you look forward to all that we do!
