3 Branches of Government
The Bill of Rights are the first 10 amendments of the U.S. Constitution.
During Unit 4, American Government, we will analyze the rights that are guaranteed in the Bill of Rights and their relation to grievances (complaints) in The Declaration of Independence.
We will be able to explain the Preamble and how it sets the stage that the founding fathers intended.
We will examine how the seven principles of the Government are listed in the Constitution and their importance in Government.
During this unit we will identify the three branches of government and explain their purpose in government, listing how each branch keeps the other one in check from having more power and that power is balanced.
We will also analyze the amending process for changing the Constitution, impeachment, veto, overriding the veto, and the bill to a law process.
We will be able to describe what makes a good citizen be it through voting and jury duty.
We will compare and contrast various Historical Documents that influenced the Constitution in the concepts of Representative and Self-Government.
Finally, we will describe ways to become a citizen of the U.S. by birth and naturalization process.
