During Unit 3, the American Revolution, we will analyze events that led to the American Revolution (or Revolutionary War).
We will compare and contrast various acts and taxes imposed by England on the colonists, beginning with the Proclamation of 1763, forbidding colonization past the Appalachian Mountains, extending for almost 2,000 miles from southern New York to northern Mississippi.
We will also examine how debt from The French and Indian War impacted British economic policies that led to the war such as the Sugar Act, Stamp Act, Quartering Act, Townshend Act and the Tea Act.

March 5, 2020, commemorated the 250th anniversary of the “Bloody Massacre on King Street” or the Boston Massacre.
Read the story of The Boston Massacre (link above), one of several pivotal events leading to the Revolutionary War, and ultimately, the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

revolution - the usually violent attempt by many people to end the rule of one government and start a new one
Unit 4
During Unit 4, American Revolution, we will compare and contrast British and American advantages and disadvantages during the war by examining the superiority of the British Army and Navy vs the ragtag low supplied Continental Army.
We will be able to answer how Britain struggled supplying its army in America and how the Patriots had an advantage fighting on its own turf by knowing the terrain.
We will also examine how France entered the war against England after the Battle of Saratoga and why that became the turning point of the war.
We will identify the struggle at the winter camp of the Continental Army in ¨Valley Forge, Pennsylvania.
We will evaluate the Battle of Yorktown and its significance in ending the war.
Lastly, we will identify key individuals and their contributions such as George Washington as General of the Continental Army.
