U.S. History
Welcome to 8th Grade U.S. History
August 11, 2025
For showing up today. Your first day of history class. Who am I?
Ms. McCray, your 8th-grade U.S. History teacher.
What will we learn in this class? Glad you asked! We are history. We’re historians, explorers, navigators, and conquerors.
Our goal is to explore how we, humans, behaved, made decisions, learned… lived, lost, and won during the time period we’re studying.
Why? Because who doesn’t want to be an explorer? Who doesn’t want to learn new things? Who doesn’t want to grow and challenge themselves to be better than they were last year? I know I sure do!
We will study all aspects of human behavior throughout United States history, specifically the years between 1607 to 1877. History is about human beings; our choices and feelings, our food and culture, our decisions and indecisions.
More importantly, we'll have fun while learning.
Think: tasting food, creating souvenirs, celebrating different cultures, acting out scenarios, writing poetry, reading stories, having debates, studying maps, engaging in friendly competitions, discovering inventions; going on virtual field trips, and attending real life field trips.
