As a collective of teams in Aberdeen City our main focus is to support family mental health and wellbeing. Together we offer whole family support*. We aim to help families with wellbeing needs that cannot be met universally or within their current support network, and who do not require statutory/specialist provision. We provide a range of emotional and practical support to improve whole family mental health and wellbeing.
Our diverse team can help with a variety of needs to meet each family’s unique set of circumstances:
Support is voluntary.
We work alongside families to meet their identified goals.
Children, Young People and Families must consent to the support from Fit Like
Please see privacy notice below
*Whole Family Support: we take a whole-family approach which just means we don’t work with a child or children in isolation. This is because evidence tells us that the people who have most influence over the wellbeing of children are their parents and carers. Working alongside you to identify family strengths and challenges increases the chance to improve and sustain wellbeing for your child and family.
Schools or Health Visitors can make a Request for Assistance (RFA) on your behalf.
Families can self-seek support by emailing Fit Like
We do not have a centralised phone number, but someone will contact you in response to your request.
If you are making a request on behalf of a family please ensure :
Families and children are consenting to support, and know your concerns
The views of the family and child been explored and included in the RFA
Unmet need is clearly expressed, as opposed to making a direct request for a specific team (this can raise unrealistic expectations)
The information in the RFA should be shared with the family for transparency around understanding of identified unmet need.

Initial Conversations with families
Fit Like was developed to deliver support to families embedding a rights-based approach. To embed this ethos, we will contact the families on receipt of the RFA, to explore and understand what type of support may best meet their identified areas of need.
This initial conversation will allow for an exploration of needs which may result in:·
Direct Fit Like? support·

As Parents and young people who have Experienced the Fit Like team - we value your feedback
Felt like I was being listened to and given the right options and choices. Finally have my son and myself back on track and moving forward with our lives again.
Weekly one to one sessions were helpful. It made really positive changes to my mental health. Talking to someone who is understanding really helped.
To realise I'm not alone there are other parents/carers out there going through the same. I also realised thongs that I could change not just that my children need to be changing. I did not see that before
