 Spring 2023     Poetry

supernova

Ever Krikorian

they
always
used to
tell us to
reach for the
stars. we aimed
high, in hopes of reaching goals that were much
bigger than us. we only learned later that
stars burn out: some explos-
ively, taking everything that
surrounds it down
with it. some die
quietly, without wit-
nesses.             dreams
were                   never
meant                         to be.
