Dear Avalon Readers,
We are thrilled to present the Fall 2024 issue of Avalon Literature and Arts Magazine. As our goal always remains, we honor the history of Avalon while also searching for ways to raise our literary standards. This cycle, writers and artists from across the nation helped us break our record for most submissions ever. We are truly grateful to be a part of such an engaged and artistically motivated community.
Raw and physical symbolism, as well as the exploration of emotional and existential themes, distinguish this semester’s edition. The pieces in our Fall 2024 issue explore the processes of deconstruction and reconstruction, so that, while our minds and bodies may be bruised by the hardships of life, we can reassemble our narratives into something meaningful and productive.
Since the Spring of 2024, we’ve striven to build our magazine into a space that inspires creativity for students beyond Shenandoah University. We are pleased to announce that we have continued to pursue that goal and are featuring works from writers and artists from the University of Louisville, Weber State University, University of Mary Washington, Virginia Peninsula Community College, and Shepherd University. We hope to continue to cultivate a home for writers and artists from around the country!
As always, we would like to thank you for your continued or newfound support of our publication! For more poetry and artwork from our editors, as well as updates on the magazine, check out our Instagram.
