Next year's class will cover Topic 5 and TWO Option units. Review all the IB SEHS Options [A,B, C & D - SL (Core) Only] and be prepared to discuss options you would like to learn about next year.

Focus: Structural and Functional Characteristics of Fats (Triglycerides) & Proteins / Vitamins
Students will analyze 3-D digital models of lipids and determine structural differences of the molecules
Students will identify the functional characteristics of different types of lipids.

We will then discuss Proteins, I am providing my Proteins and Micronutrients lecture notes.
Students will break off and work with others on the Case Study on page 57.
Once we go over the Case Study, students will begin work on the Vitamin and Mineral Meal plan assignment.

3.1.3 State the chemical composition of a glucose molecule
3.1.4:Identify a diagram representing the basic structure of a glucose molecule
3.1.5: Explain how glucose molecules can combine to form disaccharides and polysaccharides
3.2.2: State what glycogen is and its major storage sites.
3.1.6: State the composition of a molecule of triacylglycerol (triglyceride).
3.1.7: Distinguish between saturated and unsaturated fatty acids
