Digestion

We will review the labels on the Biology Frog Pre-dissection Packet.

Students will then color-code the digestive organs on the Internal Dissection, Pre-Dissection Worksheet and list the functions of the listed organs.

• • 1. • Students will need to visit this website on Frog Anatomy & Dissection Vocabulary to complete this last page of the packet.

When students are ready, we will then use this Wiki How page on Frog Dissection to dissect the frog. Students will need to identify the following organs in their frog:

• • Liver

  • Stomach

  • esophagus

  • Small Intestine

  • Large Intestine

  • Gall Bladder

  • (Pancreas may be too hard to find)

Students not doing the physical dissection will work through the Warm-up, Part A & Part B of the Gizmos Frog Dissection.

We will conduct a guided pre-dissection activity. 

• • Students will complete the the Biology Frog Pre-dissection Packet as we move through the discussion.

When students are ready, we will then use this Wiki How page on Frog Dissection to dissect the frog.

• • Our first goal is to identify the organs of the digestive system.

• • Students will be given a video recap handout that will serve as a video quiz

    1. • Students need to respond to only 10 things on the handout and will be scored on accuracy 

We will then work through the Digestive System packet together

Students will then login to Gizmos and open the Digestive System Gizmo.

• • As a class we work through the Warm-up and discuss how to go about Activity A.

    1. • We will stop at the end of Activity A to make sure we have the digestive organs in the correct order.
