Learner Outcomes
6.2.1:Â Outline the importance of specificity, accuracy, reliability and validity with regard to fitness testing.
6.2.2:Â Discuss the importance of study design in the context of the sports, exercise and health sciences.
This should include a demonstration of causality in experimental results by the inclusion of control groups, randomization, placebos, blinding and double-blinding, statistical analysis.
6.2.3: Outline the importance of the Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q).
6.2.4: Evaluate field, laboratory, sub-maximal and maximal tests of human performance.

Is there a correlation between audio distractions and response time, visual distractions and response time and/or audio and visual distractions and response time? How would you know?

Year 1 students will then take the Components of Fitness and Fitness Tests Quiz
Year 2 students will begin work on a Topic Review Game:
Students select the type of game.
It should be designed for 2 to 4 players
The game will address one of the topics we covered last year (Topics 1-4 & 6)
The game should focus on the Learning Outcomes of that Topic
You do not need to include all of the outcomes but it should include a majority of the outcomes
When Year 1s finish the quiz they should:

Focus: T-test and Graphing (6.1) Review / Causation vs Correlation / Fitness
Learner Outcomes
6.1.1:Â Outline that error bars are a graphical representation of the variability of data.
6.1.2: Calculate the mean and standard deviation of a set of values.
6.1.3: State that the statistic standard deviation is used to summarize the spread of values around the mean, and that within a normal distribution  approximately 68% and 95% of the values fall within plus or minus one or two standard deviations respectively.
6.1.4:Â Explain how the standard deviation is useful for comparing the means and the spread of data between two or more samples.
6.1.5:Â Outline the meaning of coefficient of variation.
6.1.6: Deduce the significance of the difference between two sets of data using calculated values for t (p value is normally given for a test) and the  appropriate tables.
6.1.7:Â Explain that the existence of a correlation does not establish that there is a causal relationship between two variables.
6.3.1:Â Distinguish between the concepts of health-related fitness and performance-related (skill-related) fitness.

Focus: Standard Deviation and Coefficient of Variation Review / Performing T-tests
Bell Question:
Read this article on Moneyball, the title of the 2003 book and 2016 movie. Which were both based on the analytical approach of the 2002 Oakland A's.
It is the winter off-season for professional baseball, the "Hot Stove" time. You are a player scout and part of the new player recruitment group of a low budget professional baseball team. How would you use standard deviation and coefficient of variation, along with the Moneyball strategy, to put together the best team with the lowest budget possible.
Today's In-Class Class Tasks:
We will discuss the answer to the bell question and review the Super Bowl 24' assignments
Students will then to Google Classroom and open the spreadsheet in the Performing T-tests assignment. We will begin work on 6.1.6.
We will watch a tutorial on how to perform T-tests.
While watching the video, I will stop the video and students will practice along with the narrator.
The spreadsheet has a Video Practice tab with all of the problems in the video. Students will just have to calculate the p value
