Narrative Writing

Narrative

Walt: write a narrative using descriptive language.

Instructions:

This week you will be using your creativity to write a story from your imagination. You will write a sentence to fit it. We will then rework our writing to make it better, share it as a class and use one student's sentence to construct our following sentences in the paragraph from.

Where's Wally?

WALT: create sentences using adjectives to describe where you are in

the school

Instructions:

You will be using what you have learnt about adjectives to write descriptive clues. With a partner take one photo of each of you somewhere in the school, write descriptive clues about where you are in the photo and crop the photo to match the clues. See if your audience can guess where you are from the clues. Remember to: Personalise your presentation. Change the background and font to suit your description.

Post your work to the blog log with a paragraph about what you have been learning and what you have presented.

Describing My Animal

WALT: - understand adjectives.

- identify adjectives.

- create sentences about an animal which includes adjectives.

Instructions:

Think of an animal you would like to describe and write about. eg: Lion, Panda, Tiger, Cat… etc. You must have at least 4 sentences in your writing piece with 6 adjectives in it.

Once you have completed your task, come see Miss Kyee. Then go onto Sumopaint or ABCya Paint and create your chosen animal.

Game Animation

Explanation

WALT: write an explanation that describes our animated game.

Instructions: Explain your game that you have created to entertain yourself and peers during a wet lunchtime. Remember to think about what you have included in your animation and to explain why you have made it this way for your audience. You need to make sure that your explanation is clear so that anyone could play the game just from reading it. The text you have written will help you with your animation voice over.

The Chocolate Game

WALT: use interesting words and word groups to write simple and complex sentences.

Instructions: This week we are going to play the chocolate game and you are then going to write a recount about your experience during the game. Think about your audience. What words could you use to describe your experience and make the story interesting to your readers.

Origami Procedural Writing

WALT: write instructions that others can follow.

Instructions: Complete an activity sorting out the important parts of procedural writing. Think: What do you need for others to be able to follow your instructions? What will make your instructions clear? Work with a partner to make a piece of origami. Find instructions through a google search. While one partner will make the origami item while the other takes a photo of each step. Create your own set of instructions explaining how to make your origami item. Check that you include all the parts needed to make your instructions clear.

WALT: write an effective paragraph.

Creative Writing- Paragraphs

Instructions: Write a creative sentence about the picture to the right.

As a class we will choose the sentence we like the best and write a paragraph each to follow the chosen sentence. Remember to use

different words to start each sentence and to stick to the main idea

the paragraph is about.

Cinquain Poetry

WALT: use nouns, adjectives, verbs and synonyms to enhance our writing.

Mother's Day is a modern celebration honouring one's mother. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world. In New Zealand it is celebrated on the second Sunday of May. The celebration of Mother's Day began in the United States in the early 20th century.

Instructions: Write a cinquain poem using nouns, adjectives, verbs and synonyms about your mum. Make a card to give to your mum on Sunday with the poem inside.
