Week 5

Heading to the final phase of our project, we started to specify our deliverables. We first discussed with Nathan the outcome of our work, to ensure that we satisfy his expectation. Since he was impressed by our work so far, we now know that we are on the right path. Packed with new motivation, each small group continued to work on our five main topics. We are not finished yet, though you find below some extract of our work:

The structure remains the same during all main topics:

- Current state

- Target state

- Recommendation

Label and Barcode

This section provide background information about the labels and 2D-barcodes after the EIGP 114.00 guidelines. We learned about how Datamatrix ECC-200 works and specified the minimal size that is required in the guidelines. In addition, we designed a new possible product label layout with the new 2D-barcode. The analyse of printers and scanners is also included. In the recommendation part we propose the product layout, new printers and scanners that meet the guidelines.

Delivery Note and Picking List

Just as in the label chapter, the delivery note and picking list have to meet the EIGP 114.00 guidelines. They also have some elements that are required on the documents. We generally analyzed the current documents and displayed what is missing. In the recommendation section we propose a new delivery note layout with 2D barcode. In addition, we advise the steps for the implementation of new delivery note and picking list.

Counterfeit Parts

To minimize the chance of counterfeit parts, there are different standards which specifie some technical and organizational requirements. Our topic is structured the same way: in the organizational part, we reflect the information that we gained from the standard. In the technical part we point to the additional efforts that are needed to make the parts additionally secure. The last part, recommendations, provides our opinion about the standard.

Voice Enabled Warehouse

You can find an introduction of Voice Enabled Warehouse (VEW) in week 4. This week, we could retreive information from SAP and Wavelink about how VEW works and what is required in oder to implement it. In the deliverable, we first will introduce VEW, explain how it works and compare the old picking process with the voice enabled picking process. Moreover, we present some providers and compare them with each other. At the end, we reccomend one provider and explain how we made our decision.

Picking slips

To meet EIGP 114.00 we have to analyze the outer labels called picking slips. We are still working on this topics and can't provide much information yet.

Next week we will need to focus on packing slips, check the english language, finish our paper and prepare the presentation.
