Week 3

The third week began with a meeting of the project members to discuss the progress. Robert reported on his phone call with Pago, the label supplier of Schurter AG in Switzerland. He discovered that to meet the EIGP 114.00 guidelines additional investments in hardware will be necessary.

In the meantime we received the contact of the person in charge of SAP at Schurter AG. We will try to make a phone call with him and hope that he will help us to better understand the process of labeling and scanning at Schurter AG as well as how "voice enabled warehousing" works.

We decided to visualize the processes of warehousing and label printing.

This is a first draft of the current label print process:

Also we have a first draft of the new label with the new Data Matrix ECC-200. The Data Matrix in the upper right corner contains all the data which are also displayed in 1D barcodes. It is not possible to print only the 2D barcode, because of the standard EIGP 114.00. The standard requires:

  • - Human readable data

  • - 1D Barcode

  • - 2D Barcode
