In addition to the Code of Conduct policy stated in the student handbook, the following applies to students in grades 6, 7, and 8.
Students will not be permitted to call home for items such as lunch, homework, PE uniforms, books or supplies without approval from the teacher. It is the responsibility of the student to bring these items to school.
Sweatshirts and jackets are not to be worn in the classroom. There are two exceptions: sixth graders may wear their Outdoor Education sweatshirts after they return from camp and eighth graders may wear their class sweatshirts in place of the uniform sweater.
In preparation for a successful transition to high school, junior high students need to submit homework on time.
Homework will be submitted at the beginning of the school day. Any assignment not submitted on time will receive an M or missing notation on SchoolSpeak. Assignment still needs to be completed and given to the teacher.
It is the teacher’s discretion to give the late work full or partial credit. Repeated acceptance of late work should NOT be considered an expectation of the student. Please note that missing and even late work makes an impact on a student’s subject grade.
Parents are informed of a student’s missing assignments via SchoolSpeak notification. If a pattern persists, parents may be contacted for a conference with the teacher and/or principal to discuss actions towards improvement.
Following an absence due to illness, the student is responsible for completing all missed assignments and tests. Details can be discussed with the teacher. The teacher can offer additional help and may recommend tutoring for the student, if needed.
The teacher is under no obligation to prepare work before a student’s planned absence (i.e. family vacation) or provide tutoring or special scheduling of assignments and tests. The student needs to be prepared to submit missed work and take tests upon return. Details can be discussed with the teacher.
