Students receive special recognition at the school through a variety of award programs. These awards are intended to promote and recognize Christian action, academic skills and achievement, athletic achievement and various aspects of good citizenship. Teachers and parents are encouraged to promote these awards as an incentive towards special effort and achievement by the students.
Student Learning Expectations (formerly Student of the Month) awards are presented at the monthly school Mass. These awards, for all grade levels, are given on the basis of the Student Learning Expectations. Each trimester, one of the three SLEs will be the focus of the SLE Award (i.e. trimester 1 - Be the Best You Can Be). Teachers collaborate and observe students, identifying students who strongly exemplify the SLE of the trimester. Teachers will provide a clear write-up about how the student embodied the SLE. Students will be recognized at Mass on designated days during each month of the school year. Students receive certificates and have their picture taken with family members, the principal and teacher. This photo is displayed on the bulletin board outside third grade for the next month.
