Age-appropriate educational field trips within our area and to nearby points of interest are scheduled by classroom teachers throughout the year. These trips are designed to supplement different aspects of the classroom curriculum and to introduce students to the resources of the community. Parents will receive notice of field trips in advance and will be asked to sign a field trip permission form indicating approval of the student’s participation. No student may participate without a signed permission form. If permission is withheld, the child must still attend school that day.
Sometimes a fee may be required from each student to pay the cost of transportation or to use the facility. Teachers will request drivers and/or chaperones as needed.
All drivers must have a copy of their driver’s license and vehicle liability insurance on file in the school office. Diocesan liability insurance is secondary to liability insurance provided by the car owner. Other children/siblings may not accompany chaperones as their presence is a distraction from the chaperone’s assigned duties. It is understood that drivers will go directly to the field trip site and return directly back to school afterwards. Absolutely NO side trips or personal stops may be made while driving for a school sponsored/approved field trip. The personal use of cell phones while volunteering is not allowed as it causes distraction to assigned duties.
Use of tobacco, alcohol, or any substance which compromises student safety is not allowed during field trips.
A booster seat/car seat is required for students in accordance with California State Law for all field trips requiring transportation by car.
No cell phones may be used by students during a field trip unless given permission by the teacher.
Student conduct and dress should be appropriate to represent the high standards of our school. Any changes to this dress code will be sent home in writing prior to the field trip.
On days designated for free dress the following rules apply: NO above the knee shorts, ripped jeans, mini-skirts, midriff, spaghetti strap, halter, or tube tops, low cut dresses or blouses cannot be worn. Students are allowed to wear: clean jeans in good condition, dress slacks and shirts, dresses, skirts and blouses. Skirts or dresses must be modest and appropriate for school. Appropriate shoes must be worn; no open-toed, sandals, heels, or slippers may be worn. Baseball-style hats, caps or hoods may not be worn in the classroom. Make-up, colored lip gloss and colored nail polish are not permitted. Parents will be notified of any changes to this free dress code prior to the event.
When a student misses a scheduled Free Dress Day, he/she may not make up on a different day.
