Call the school office at (650) 755-0220 before 9:00 am on the first day of your child’s absence. The school telephone is connected to an answering machine, so messages may be left at any time prior to 9:00 am. When calling, please give your child’s name, grade and reason for the absence.
California State Law requires all absences be explained with a hard copy note or email to the teacher on the day your child returns to school.
Inform the school when your child has a contagious illness so the school may inform other parents of possible exposure.
STAY HOME WHEN SICK
Holy Angels School will require symptomatic staff and students to stay home when sick, get tested, and consult with their health provider. If your child is experiencing fever, cough or other symptoms of COVID-19, please have your child(ren) stay home to reduce the risk of spreading any illness.
CDPH recommends the following:
Faculty and students with symptoms of COVID-19 infection must meet the following criteria before returning for in-person instruction:
At least 24 hours have passed since resolution of fever without the use of fever-reducing medications; and
Other symptoms have improved; and
They have a negative COVID-19 test, OR a healthcare provider has provided documentation that the symptoms are typical of their underlying chronic condition, OR at least 10 days have passed since symptom onset.
Family vacations or extended absences on school days are discouraged. Being absent for extended weekend/vacations does not lessen the student’s academic responsibility nor does it involve special academic consideration. A student may be provided with assignments before leaving for such a vacation (at the discretion of the teacher) and will be required to make up all missed work, including tests, when he/she returns. Excessive absences may affect a student’s grades or no grades may be given that trimester. Excessive absences may also affect promotion. The teacher and principal must be given written notification prior to the absence. Parents will be asked to sign a form indicating that they understand these expectations. Tutoring may be required when the student returns to school; if tutoring is required, parents are responsible for finding a tutor and all financial obligations included.
Students have two days to submit missing work for every one day of absence unless arrangements are made with the teacher.
