This is a very short chapter with a slightly different focus than those we have read so far. The path of bhakti yoga, the yoga of love or devotion, is discussed.
1. This chapter begins with a question from Arjuna- which path is better: devotion (bhakti) or knowledge (jnana)? Why does Krishna argue through line 7 that bhakti is actually the preferred path?
2. Lines 8-12 describe briefly the practice of devotion (bhakti). How is this actually very similar to what we have read so far? Can you also distinguish a difference?
3. The rest of the chapter describes the ideal devotee of Krishna, but also the one who Krishna loves. What characteristics of this individual remind you of the one described in chapter 2:55-61? What about the man described as a vaishnavan (devotee of Vishnu) in Gandhi's favorite song? How is the ideal devotee of Krishna here in chapter 12 different, too?
