As you read, keep an eye out for ways of discussing the following questions:

1. In what ways did slavery precede the Atlantic Slave Trade in Africa?

2. How did Africans collaborate in the slave trade? How did they resist?

3. How did the Atlantic Slave Trade impact Africa politically, economically, sociologically, and culturally?
