Writing

      • This week we are going to write about our biggest heroes. Yesterday, you wrote your topic sentence. Remember, the sentence you submitted to me on the Google form?
      • First, log into BrainPop and watch the video about paragraphs, then take the quiz :)
      • Now, I want you to write 3 details and a concluding sentence to go with your topic sentence. You can use this ice cream graphic organizer to help you. You can print or draw your own.
      • The 3 details should be the 3 reasons why your hero is your hero!
      • Here is my example of what I want you to do today.

Miss Scrofani's Example

Topic Sentence: When I hear the word hero, I immediately think of brave, hard-working firefighters.

Detail #1: Firefighters are brave because they run into burning buildings to save lives.

Detail #2: Firefighters put fires out and save buildings and land from burning.

Detail #3: Firefighters teach us how to stay safe around fire.

Concluding Sentence: As you can see, firefighters are very heroic.

*Please email a picture of your writing work after you finish. You can write it just like I did, or you can use the ice cream graphic organizer. Notice how I started my topic sentence with the magic word "when." You could start with "if, when, of, or whenever." Notice how I started my concluding sentence with "as you can see." You can use that too! You could also start with "in conclusion." Please use capitals and periods for all of your sentences.
