Language Arts

Things to work on while you're reading:

            1. Fluency - read with expression and stop at punctuation
            2. Rate - don't read too fast or too slow
            3. Sound out unknown words - look for small words, spelling patterns, cover up part of the word
            4. Parents try not to give the word to your child right away..Make them work for it!!!
      • We are focusing on plot this week. Here's your "Think Critically" question for the day: "What happens when Luna returns to the sky at the end of the myth?"
          • Please write the answer in your Readers notebook or on a piece of paper. Remember to RESTATE the question, ANSWER the question, and CITE your evidence!! Prove your answer. Use capitals and periods.
          • Parents, scroll down to the very bottom of this page for an example of an expected answer. 2nd Graders, NO PEEKING!! :)
      • Do 1 spelling choice - you can choose to type your spelling words in an email to me if you want :)
      • Readers Writers Notebook (RWN) pages 331, 334, 335

*Optional Directed Drawing...choose the one you like best :)

Think Critically Answer: When Luna returns to the sky, the tiny fish come with her. She lights up the night sky. The stars shine again, the wind blows, flowers lift their heads, and birds fly and then fall asleep.

This is just an example. I want the kids to restate the question, use proper capitalization and punctuation, and try to write 2-3 sentences.
