Language Arts

      • Log into Pearson Realize to do your activities
          • Read the story that is assigned to you. You don't have to answer any questions, but please read it out loud for fluency practice.
          • Unit 6 Week 2 Questions - students, please try to do this on your own with no help :)
      • Have someone in your house give you a spelling test...remember all of the abbreviations start with a capital and end with a period!!

stop! sing-a-long time!

Read along and it'll count for 5 AR minutes!

Writing

        • Okay authors, we are going to REVISE our realistic fiction stories today.
        • Paragraph 1 (Beginning - Introduction): You have already written the beginning of your realistic fiction story. You started the story in an exciting way, maybe with dialogue or onomatopoeia. You introduced your characters and setting.
        • Paragraph 2 (Middle): You already wrote the middle of your story. You built up to the problem. You didn't just tell the problem right away! Then, you wrote about the problem. (This might have taken you more than 1 paragraph - that is fine!)
        • Last Paragraph (End - Conclusion) You wrote this yesterday. You included the solution. You ended with a hope, dream, wish or feeing for the main character. (For example, "Lily was so proud of herself!" or "Lily was so grateful for her friend's help.")
        • Now, watch Episode 6: Revising. Revising is one of the most important steps in the writing process.
        • Then, edit and revise your story. Check your spelling, make sure you used exciting words and quotation marks. Change anything you want to change.
        • You can add a title and a cover and draw illustrations if you WANT to! You do NOT have to do this. You DO NOT have make a final copy of your story. You MAY publish your story if you want to.
        • You can send your story to me today, or on Monday. We can share our stories on a Zoom meeting! :)

If you are one of Mrs. Weinstein or Ms. Rosa's reading students, please visit their page now for your assignment.
