Stop Running to the Copier

The copy machine scanner is a very functional way to scan a document as a pdf. But the problem is, it is way too time consuming. Leaving your classroom, walking to the nearest machine, typing in your code, entering you email, scanning your document; only to return to your classroom to open your email, download the pdf, and then finally you can upload it to your Google Drive or present it to your students. Wow! How about we try something a little more efficient. If you have a smart phone or tablet, you are carrying a portable scanner with you. With the help of a few great apps, you can take a photo with your phone, and upload it directly to your Google Drive.

First, you will need the Evernote app. It essentially will use your phone's camera to scan a document. Not impressed? How about if it would automatically center, crop, and focus your document, even if you take it at an angle. Then with the "Share" button, you can easily print it, upload it to your Google Classroom, or email it.

Second, with the Skitch app from Evernote, you can take a picture of a document, and markup your document with annotations, text, shapes, arrows, etc. It's also great for adding text to a pdf, like filling in a worksheet online. Using the "Share" button, you can easily upload it to your Google Drive and/or Classroom.
