Neatening an Assignment

If you have an old worksheet on Microsoft Word, it most definitely has lines on it for students to write their answers on. When you upload it to Google Classroom and convert it to a Google Doc, it will still have those lines. When your students type on the Doc, they are going to "push" the line and disrupt the formatting of the assignment. For obvious reasons, this can make the document messy and unorganized.

My suggestion, especially for younger students, is to use a table to replace the lines. Go to Insert, Table, and choose the dimensions of your table.

For the example above, I used a 2x4 table.

Now students can type their answers without

changing disrupting the format of the document.

A 1x1 table works really well for students to enters their name, or responding to a short answer questions:

If that seems like a lot of work, it is, but it is probably worth it in the long run. However, some teachers simply have their students delete the lines, and add their answer in a different color that is underlined and bold.
