Fur.ly

There is so much good information on the web. But sometimes we need to direct our kids to a specific site, or for this tip, some specific sites. Instead of having multiple URL’s for the students to find or navigate to, try using fur.ly. At fur.ly you create one URL for the students to navigate to, and it links each of the specific sites you tell it to. Then provide the shortened URL to your students and they will see your first website with an added navigation bar at the top. Students can click the forward and back buttons to move between the websites, or they can use the pull down menu to choose the desired site.

Unfortunately, fur.ly could be blocked by Lightspeed as a security.shortener.

For example, check out this States and Capitals fur.ly. Notice the gold bar at the top? It navigates students through five websites in order. Starting with an introductory video, then three practice sites in order of complexity, and finally an online quiz.
