You can get many add-ons Google Docs. But it actually has many very useful built in tools. One of which is voice typing. Just like the name implies, students can read or talk to their Chromebook, and this tool will type what they say.

To begin using voice typing, a student must open a Google Doc, click "Tools" in the top toolbar, and select "Voice typing..."

Once they do, the voice typing microphone will pop-up. When students are ready, they click the microphone to begin speaking. The first time students use it, they may have to "Allow" Google Docs to use the Chromebook's microphone.

When the microphone is red, Google Docs will begin typing whatever it hears from the microphone. Students will need to talk slowly and articulately, and they may need to manually edit punctuation and other grammatical mistakes.
