Dear members,

With Ambal Rajarajeshwari’s blessings, our all-girls line up gave our CCC members a solid show Sunday. It was so refreshing to see a lot of young, new faces (we introduced three singers) and the pleasure we get in listening to the (CCC) children rivals none. Those who attended the event will attest to this fact and by the way, thank you all for making that extra effort to be there! Those of you who skipped after a positive RSVP on the Evite, please try to make it next month!!!

Two DOUBLES performed this month! Varsha Subramanian started us off with her brisk Hamsadhwani varnam and Varsha Shankar equaled it with her Saranga varnam. Shivani Sista attempted manodharmam in Valaj where as Shivani Venkatramanan charmed everyone with her (extra) sweet rendering of Intha Sowkya! Gauri’s good Bhoopalam, Vaidehi’s veritable attempt at Vachaspathi and Kavya’s brilliant Panthuvarali were appeasing to our friendly audience. Arundhati’s Mela Ragamalika and Shruthi’s flute performances were unique in their own way and brought flavor to our show. String support was handled wonderfully by our violin accompanists Vittal, Aparna, Shreyas (double duty) and Sanjna (with triple duty) and we were proud to introduce Saranya on the veena!!! Each of our nine performers were accompanied by their exclusive mrudangists (awesome, isn’t it?) who gave a true lift to the solos. Pat on the back surely deserved by Shriram, Achyut, Adarsh, Nitin, Akshay A., Akshay V., Ajay, Avinash and Sathya (who made the true all-girls team possible!).

Nami, as always, took care of all our audio needs with some help from the audio team volunteers. Thanks to Gopi for the help with venue booking. Special appreciation goes to Sriram for putting together the slides before leaving for India and Kavitha for running the slides for us in his absence. Many parent volunteers came early to help us with setup and some helped with clean up too (and we needed more help this month given the new venue) and we sincerely appreciate their help. Special shout outs go to parents of yesterday’s stars, there were too many to list here. Suma, Sripriya, and Veni brought tea for volunteers (and for others who stayed back) which was refreshing. Thank you all so much for all your help. A ton of thanks to Anand Gurumurthy who covered the photography in Prasanna’s absence. Feel free to enjoy his pictures below:

Please save Sunday, Dec 14th from 2pm to 4.30pm for our next event at our usual Sai Mandir venue to bid 2014 a grand farewell!

Last, but not the least, Congratulations to all the CCC children who participated in the recently held Carnatic Music Idol competitions! They all did a fantastic job! 17 out of 19 finalists from the West Coast prelims, who advanced to the finals in Chicago, were CCC children and more exciting news is in store for you when the show is telecast later!!!

Regards,

Padma
