Dear all,

Happy New Year to all of you and your families! OUR child CCC is now EIGHT years old and thanks for nurturing it well all these years with your enthusiastic support. Sincere thanks to each one of you who attended our anniversary event to celebrate it Sunday! In spite of the storm warnings, we had the most number of people attend the event and it surely shows how much each family value their CCC membership J and make time for our performing children! Thank you Thank you Thank you!

We introduced two new vocalists, Samhitha and Siddharth, two new violinists, Urmika and Apurvaa, and one new mrudangist, Sachin. Rest of the performers showcased an improved rendering since their last CCC performance! I honestly felt every single performer and accompanist did a fantastic job and with God’s grace, we are off to a great start in 2017! One of our CCC students has offered to write a detailed review of the performances (he took notes at the event :) so please stand by for that as well!

Smt Kasthuri Shivakumar, our featured guru yesterday, shared so many important pointers on the topic of ‘recordings’, which has become an integral part of music learning for every music learner, young or old. Pros and Cons of using the recorders to learn, tips to overcome the cons were so valuable to our learners, and our sincere thanks to Smt Kasthuri for taking the time to do a great presentation.

Sincere thanks to our volunteers Latha, Veena and Sadhana for helping me with attendance each month and special thanks to Latha for making it to the event inspite of the severe jetlag. I rely on their work so much, given our growth and number of requests I receive so please remember to record your presence with them when you attend. And, please don’t be a member who come there to just ‘give’ attendance, as listening to live concerts by peers is good for your own child’s growth (please refer to Sri Gopi’s feature a guru presentation from last month). Audio/stage team led by Namdev Nayak was almost in full strength yesterday, thank you team! Big thanks to Srikanth Mahalingam and Uma Sriram, our Powerpoint volunteers, for helping with the presentation every month and for accommodating my last minute changes to slides J you guys are awesome. Barath covered the photography in Prasanna’s absence yesterday, thank you Barath for always being there when we need you and for capturing the memories with a smile. Anand has taken over the video excerpts task from Prasanna now, thank you Anand for shouldering additional responsibilities this year and producing this awesome excerpts clip immediately post event. We also wish to thank our other core team volunteers, Radha & Vaidy for their help with maintaining our FB page and budding artists section. Srivatsan came aboard this year and has been a great resource for us already and we look forward to working with other new volunteers who’ve signed up to help out in the future.

Please save Sunday February 12th from 2pm to 5pm for our next event!

Regards,

Padma Mohan
