29. Cessnock Pool

Turning the corner into Allandale Rd, you will see the Cessnock pool. This pool was built in 1934 and has the distinction of not only being Australia's first pool built to Olympic standards, but the first pool in the world to use black tiles as lane markers. It's opening program booklet states that this pool was designed to hold 1000 swimmers and 1000 spectators. Looking at the stands and pool, it is possible that some creative licence was taken with regard to these claims.
