Sophist讀書會(9 Sep 2017)

The next meeting of our reading group will be on this Saturday (9 Sep 2017),

at 13:00 (half hour earlier!!).

We will start with Plato's Sophist 232d. As we read last time, the difference between Socrates' elenchus and sophistry called for our attention. Now Plato is going to analyse the "wonder" of the "sophistic techne." (233a) It will be associated to the techne of mimesis later. (234b)

Usually we read two or three Stephanus pages each time. As for the place, we will meet at Cafétéria la maison (法語人之家，電話：(02) 2368-7077；地址：羅斯福路三段 244 巷 15 號).

Soon after this meeting, our dear friend Cassandra (佳慧) will go to UK to study Egyptology. We believe she'll enjoy her study and become a good Egyptologist in the future. Let's bid her farewell.
