De Anima讀書會(6Jan2012)

（preface: 網站停擺了相當一段時間，也跳過了一次讀書小組的公告。實際上，上個月的小組聚會，已經在11月25日舉行過，和10月份那場一樣是討論Nussbaum和Putnam合寫的那篇論文(Changing Aristotle's Mind)。於是，我們就慘澹地度過沒有Dennis、沒有讀希臘文本的兩個月……現在，Dennis和De Anima都要回來了。）

最近一次聚會，時間改到1月6日（五），回到De Anima第三卷，第3~5章。第5章就是所謂「主動理智」和「被動理智」說法的出處。「主動理智」涉及到亞里斯多得的「靈魂/心靈」(psyche)概念中是否容許有某個部分可以與身體分離、獨立於身體之外而存在的議題。

The next meeting of our group has been postponed to 6 Jan. (friday), at the mini library of Philosophy Department, Soochow University (東吳大學第二教研大樓8樓哲學系辦旁的圖書室). We will continue to read and discuss on De Anima book III, chs. 3-5. The brief text of ch.5 is the source of the well-known concept of "active intellect"-- which is over-emphasized by Christian philosophers but under-estimated by modern intellectuals.

至於確切的時間，目前Kay提議：

It will the last session this year, and Dennis Schilling (Munich) will be with us. .... My suggestion would be that we begin at 11 am with our discussion, have lunch together at about 1 pm and than continue as long as our biological constitution allows. And please note that we are still stuck in Book Three.
