127 - cataclysm

May 22, 1986: The whole population of Tuscany Valley (including the very distinguised families of "Falcon Crest") went through a life-threatening experience (literally): an earthquake made their valous lands tremble and a few contracts, I mean, a few characters (and their actors) were sentenced to death. Among the victims were, the next fall, Emma´s boyfriend Dwayne and Richard´s new wife Terry. Also died, but offscreen, Richard´s ex-lover Cassandra, who had given birth his son Michael (the one who should be on the new "Falcon Crest" sequel, by the way). Other characters were written out, like lawyers Jordan Roberts and Greg Reardon, who were given a happy ending thru a phone scene in the next season. The Chase character also was on the verge of death, after being shot by his wife´s kidnapper Jeff Wainright (Edward Albert), but he eventually stayed on, but only for one more year. Also in this episode, we could see Julia´s return (who should have stayed at the convent because she lost her sight due to the earthquake), Melissa and Eric´s being separated by Lance´s misdeeds, and a mysterious call to Peter Stavros, which, the next season, was completely forgotten and overseen. That´s what happened when there´s a change of the producing team, I guess. A great cliffhanger though the budget constraints were rather obvious...

Noviembre de 1987: Todos los habitantes del Valle de Tuscany (incluidas las distinguidas familias de "Falcon Crest") atravesaban una experiencia "de muerte" (casi literalmente): el terremoto que hizo temblar sus valiosas tierras y algunos contratos, es decir, a algunos personajes (y a sus intérpretes) que fueron sentenciados a muerte. Entre las víctimas se encontraban, en la siguiente temporada, el novio de Emma, Dwayne, y la nueva mujer de Richard, Terry. También murió, pero fuera de pantalla, la ex amante de Richard, Cassandra, tras dar a luz a su hijo Michael (ese que debería protagonizar la nueva secuela de "Falcon Crest", por cierto). Otros personajes también finalizaron su recorrido en la serie, como los abogados Jordan Roberts y Greg Reardon, que consiguieron un final feliz según supimos en una charla telefónica más tarde. Asimismo Chase estaba al borde de la muerte tras recibir un disparo del secuestrador de su mujer, Jeff Wainright (Edward Albert), pero al final se quedaría un año más. En ese mismo episodio pudimos ver el retorno de Julia (que debió quedarse en el convento ya que perdería la vista a consecuencia del terremoto), la separación de Melissa y Eric mediante una estratagema de Lance, y una llamada misteriosa a Peter Stavros, la cual, la temporada siguiente, fue completamente olvidada...Eso era lo que pasaba cuando había un cambio de productores, supongo. Un fantástico cliffhanger a pesar de su evidente escaso presupuesto...
