SEASON 1

1. In his Father's House (En la casa del padre)

Una tradicional familia vinatera de CALIFORNIA se reúne al morir misteriosamente uno de sus miembros. Cuando EMMA se ve involucrada en la muerte accidental de JASON, su madre ANGELA la encubre. EMMA lucha con sus sentimientos de culpa y pérdida. CHASE y MAGGIE viajan hasta el Valle de TUSCANY para asistir al funeral del padre de él, JASON. Los sueños de mi padre para FALCON CREST se hicieron de JASON y míos, la responsabilidad de convertirlos en realidad me corresponde a mí. Sé que vuestro cariño y oraciones están con mi hermano, que era un hombre de la tierra, y a ella lo devolvemos."

Después de conocer a los GIOBERTI, el único nieto de ANGELA, LANCE, le comenta:

"Parecen agradables, no sé lo que tienes contra él." ANGELA le da una respuesta que dice mucho de sí misma: "Es muy sencillo: Si quieres formar parte de la tierra, tienes que dedicarte a ella. CHASE apenas ha vivido aquí. Ha estado volando en aviones y ahora ha aterrizado donde no debía."

Cuando COLE sospecha que VICKY mantiene una aventura con uno de sus profesores, es detenido por allanamiento de morada. CHASE se da cuenta de que sus largas ausencias han tenido efectos sobre su familia. Él y MAGGIE deciden mudarse al Oeste, a FALCON CREST, aunque ANGELA promete librarse de él tras ganarse su amistad.

A traditional California wine-producing family is reunited by the mysterious death of one of its members. When Emma is involved in Jason's accidental death, her mother Angela covers for her. Emma withdraws to struggle with her feelings of guilt and her sense of loss. As Chase and Maggie travel to the valley to attend his father Jason's funeral, Chase is caught up in childhood memories and a renewed draw to the land on which he was born. At the ceremony, the matriarch gives a speech:

"Jason Gioberti was my brother, but he was more than that to me: he was my friend. He was my dearest friend. His passing will not change that. I think that I'll miss his laughter, and his compassion, but I will not miss his love, because that became part of me a long time ago. My father's dreams for Falcon Crest became Jason's and mine, and now that he's gone, the responsibility of turning those dreams into reality belongs to me. I know that your love and your prayers are with my brother, who was a man of the soil, and whom we return to the earth."

After meeting the Giobertis, Angela´s only grandson Lance says to her:

"They seem nice enough. I'm not sure what you have against them." Angela gives him an answer that tells a lot about herself: "It's very simple. If you want to be a part of the land, you have to invest yourself in the land. Chase has harldy loved here. He's been flying around in airplanes and now he has come to earth in the wrong place".

When Cole suspects Vicky is having an affair with one of her teachers, he is arrested for breaking and entering. Chase realizes that his long absences from his family have taken their toll. He and Maggie decide to move the family west to Falcon Crest, while Angela vows to be rid of them by first earning their friendship.

2. A Time for Saboteurs (Intento de sabotaje)

PAUL, un viejo amigo de CHASE, rememora tiempos pasados en los que voló con él en las Fuerzas Aéreas y resucita su sueño de fundar juntos unas líneas aéreas. Mientras que PAUL menciona que ha encontrado el lugar perfecto en las Islas del Caribe, CHASE señala que él también: en FALCON CREST. PAUL no está realmente interesado en ningún negocio, sino que necesita una gran suma de dinero para pagar sus deudas de juego. ANGELA le ha prometido a PAUL ese dinero si puede conseguir que CHASE se marche.

Mientras flirtea con JULIA, PAUL descubre que hay una plaga llamada "botritis" y quiere asegurarse de que CHASE se arruinará y se irá si deja abiertos los aspersores toda la noche. Cuando PAUL exige su recompensa, ANGELA le acusa furiosa de poner en peligro todos los viñedos, le echa de allí y llama a CHASE. Paul, an old friend of Chase, rekindles fond memories of flying together in the Air Force and resurrects their dream of starting a flying service together. While Paul mentions that he has the perfect place down in the Caribbean islands, Chase indicates he's found the perfect place, too, at Falcon Crest. We learn that Paul doesn't care about starting a business, but needs a large sum of money to cover his gambling debts. Angela has promised Paul the money if he can get Chase off the land.

While courting Julia, Paul learns about a disease called "bunch rot," and by opening the sprinklers in the night, seeks to make sure Chase will be ruined and forced to leave. When Paul demands his reward, Angela angrily accuses him of endangering all of the vineyards, throws him out and calls Chase. After Paul is exposed, Julia helps Chase and Maggie in preserving the vineyard.

3. The Tangled Vines (La vid, enmarañada)

Presionado por la falta de mano de obra y los 50,000 dólares que debe pagar de impuestos, CHASE intenta desesperadamente prevender sus uvas antes de la cosecha. ANGELA se ofrece a comprárselas al valor de mercado, más bajo. Cuando GUS, su capataz, le informa de que hay otro comprador, CHASE cierra un lucrativo negocio. Cuando un préstamo bancario le es negado misteriosamente, CHASE, MAGGIE, COLE y VICKY deciden apostarlo todo y vender su propiedad de NUEVA YORK para reunir el dinero que necesitan para salir adelante. Mientras, COLE se siente dividido entre seguir su sueño de convertirse en arqueólogo y mantener vivo el sueño de CHASE ayudándole con los viñedos.

Pressured by a $50,000 tax bill and short of manpower, Chase desperately tries to pre-sell his grapes before harvest. Angela offers to buy them at below market value. She says: "You know, a vineyard can become an unpredictable mistress. Loving and giving one minute, demanding, expensive and frustrating the next." After Gus informs Chase of another buyer, Chase makes a lucrative deal. Angela buys the mortgage on this man's property, forcing him to back down from the deal with Chase. After a bank loan mysteriously falls through, Chase, Maggie, Cole and Vicky decide to burn their bridges and sell the brownstone in New York to raise the necessary money to stay afloat. Cole, in the meantime, is torn between following his dream to become an archaeologist and keeping Chase's dream alive by helping him in the vineyards.

4. The Harvest (La vendimia)

Harta del comportamiento irresponsable de LANCE, ANGELA se siente decepcionada al considerarlo heredero de FALCON CREST. Para demostrar su valía, LANCE hace explotar la estación de bombeo de CHASE, enfureciendo a ANGELA, que amenaza con desheredarle. Tras una pelea que mantiene LANCE con MARIO, el hijo de GUS, este debe ser hospitalizado. Para escarmentar a LANCE, ANGELA hace creer a COLE que él será el heredero de FALCON CREST:

"Eso es historia, COLE - le explica sobre el negocio familiar. "Fue embotellado por tu tatarabuelo. Era un inmigrante italiano que llegó a América tarde para la fiebre del oro. Pero, al menos, tuvo el sentido común de traer consigo parte de las viejas vides de la familia. Para JOSEPH eso fue como el oro. Estaba casado con una sueca que era muy tozuda. Era una combinación extraña: un italiano apasionado y una sueca mística. Engendraron a gente extraña: nosotros." Mientras CHASE y MAGGIE se preparan para recibir la primera cosecha, LANCE compra a los recolectores para que no trabajen para CHASE al tiempo que este intenta recuperar a su hijo. Una vez COLE se da cuenta de lo que realmente sucede en la mansión, vuelve a casa para ayudar a su familia. Cuando CHASE descubre que los peones han sido sobornados, se enfrenta a ANGELA y los vuelve a contratar. Al ofrecerse a conseguir una beca universitaria para MARIO, ANGELA consigue que retire los cargos. Enamorado de VICKY, MARIO debe separarse de ella para entrar en la universidad.

Tired of Lance's irresponsible behavior, Angela becomes disenchanted with him as heir to Falcon Crest. In order to prove his worth, Lance explodes Chase's pump house, which makes Angela furious, and she threatens to disinherit him. After Lance starts a fight with Mario, Mario requires hospitalization. In order to spur Lance, Angela courts Cole to be the heir to Falcon Crest:

"That is history, Cole! - she explains about the family business. "It was bottled by your great great grandfather. He was an Italian immigrant, who came to America a little bit late for the gold rush. But at least he had the sense to bring some of the old family vines. That was gold to Joseph. He was married to a Swede! Phaa, she was so stubborn. It was a strange combination. A passionate Italian and a mystical Swede. They produced strange people. Us!" While Chase and Maggie prepare to bring in their first harvest, Lance pays off the pickers, while Chase fights to get his son back. After Cole realizes what is really happening at the big house, he returns home to assist his family. When Chase learns about the bribe, he confronts Angela, and regains his pickers. By offering to help secure a university scholarship for Mario, Angela gets the charges dropped. Falling in love, Vicky and Mario have to part so that Mario can start school.

5. Tony Comes Home (El regreso de Tony)

TONY, el marido de JULIA, que la abandonó a ella y a LANCE doce años antes, reaparece de repente con el deseo genuino de reconciliarse y reanudar su relación. LANCE detesta a su padre por haberse marchado y le atormenta la idea de que TONY pueda volver con ellos como si nada. Mientras LANCE se siente celoso por la atención que su madre le presta a TONY, ANGELA intenta entrometerse. TONY le pide a JULIA que se marche con él para empezar una nueva vida lejos de ANGELA, pero JULIA descubre que es incapaz de abandonarla. Mientras, CHASE se siente preocupado por el nuevo empleo de MAGGIE como reportera en un diario de SAN FRANCISCO porque trabajará para el ex marido de ANGELA, DOUGLAS CHANNING.

Julia's husband, Tony, who deserted her and Lance twelve years ago, suddenly reappears with the genuine desire to make amends and renew their relationship. Detesting his father for leaving home, Lance agonizes over the fact that Tony can return to Falcon Crest as if he had never left. While Lance is jealous of his mother's attention to Tony, Angela tries to interfere. Tony asks Julia to leave with him to start a new life away from Angela, but Julia finds she is unable to leave. Meanwhile, Chase becomes concerned about Maggie's new job as a newspaper reporter in San Francisco because she will be working for Angela's ex-husband, Douglas Channing.

6. Kindred Spirits (Espíritus afines)

CHASE y COLE acompañan a LANCE en un viaje para inspeccionar una remota propiedad que ANGELA desea comprar. Dado que sólo es accesible a caballo, COLE sufre un accidente y resulta herido. CHASE se queda con COLE mientras LANCE va a buscar ayuda. Tras resolver una serie de problemas, finalmente LANCE y un equipo de rescate van a buscar a COLE. Cuando VICKY hace un comentario inocente sobre una clínica psiquiátrica, EMMA huye de casa, creyendo que la van a internar porque la gente cree que está loca. Cuando VICKY descubre que EMMA se esconde en una cabaña, se hace su amiga y la convence para que vuelva con ella a casa. Preocupado, DOUGLAS se queda junto a ANGELA hasta que encuentran a EMMA.

Chase and Cole accompany Lance on a trip to examine a remote piece of property that Angela is contemplating buying. As the wilderness property is only accessible by horse, Cole is injured in a riding accident. Chase stays with Cole, while Lance goes for help. After running into some problems, Lance finally leads a rescue team to Cole. After Vicky makes an innocent remark regarding a mental health clinic, Emma runs away from home, believing that she is going to be sent away because people think she's crazy. When Vicky discovers Emma hiding in an old springhouse, she befriends Emma, and ultimately persuades her to return home. Worried, Douglas Channing stays by Angela's side until Emma is found.

7. The Extortionist (El extorsionista)

Cuando vuelve TURNER BATES, el novio de EMMA que presenció la muerte de JASON, CHASE le informa de que este murió supuestamente en un accidente de coche. Al conocer la verdad, TURNER va a ver a EMMA para que le cuente lo que pasó después de su huida la noche del accidente, pero ANGELA expulsa de su propiedad a TURNER, que vuelve sigilosamente, se lleva a EMMA y la seduce para averiguar la verdad. Incapaz de obtener respuestas directas de EMMA, TURNER intenta chantajear a ANGELA, que a su vez avisa a la policía, y TURNER, después de una persecución automovilística, fallece en un accidente. CHASE y LANCE rescatan a EMMA. Al mismo tiempo los GIOBERTI deben valorar los efectos que tendría un nuevo embarazo de MAGGIE cuando esta cree estar embarazada.

When Emma's lover, Turner Bates, who was on the scene when Jason died, returns, Chase informs him that Jason supposedly died in a car crash. Knowing this to be untrue, Turner seeks Emma to learn what happened after he ran from the scene on the night of Jason's death, but Angela throws Turner off her property. Turner sneaks back, steals Emma away and romances her in order to learn the truth. Unable to obtain any straight answers from Emma, Turner tries to blackmail Angela, who in turn calls in the police, and Turner, after a car chase, is accidentally killed. Chase and Lance pull Emma out and save her. When Maggie says that she may be pregnant, the Giobertis try to cope with the effects that it would cause.

8. Lord of the Manor (El señor del feudo)

Cuando ANGELA viaja con COLE a ROMA para asistir a un importante concurso de cata de vinos, se sorprende al encontrar allí a DOUGLAS, y espera rememorar la luna de miel que pasaron allí muchos años antes. Inicialmente, se reaviva el idilio entre ANGELA y DOUGLAS, pero ella le deja abatido cuando rehusa su propuesta de volver a casarse. Mientras, COLE ha recibido una serie de misteriosas cartas que pertenecen a un pariente italiano que demuestran la amarga relación que mantenían ANGELA y JASON. ANGELA deja a LANCE a cargo de FALCON CREST para ponerlo a prueba con el negocio familiar, pero el joven se lleva una decepción al ver que no es tan astuto como su abuela. When Angela takes Cole to Rome to attend an important wine-tasting competition, she is surprised to find that Douglas is there, and hopes to rekindle the memory of their honeymoon spent there years ago. Initially, romance flares between Angela and Douglas; however, Angela devastates Douglas when she refuses his proposal to re-marry. Meanwhile, Cole has been given a collection of mysterious letters, which belong to an Italian relative and which underscore the enduring bitterness between Angela and Jason. Angela leaves Lance in charge of Falcon Crest to test him with the family business, but Lance painfully discovers that he's not as shrewd as his grandmother. Chase learns in the end, however, that Lance is not just a spoiled rich kid, but is a very dangerous person as well.

Furiosa con sus padres por su actitud excesivamente protectora, VICKIE se escapa de casa y va a SAN FRANCISCO, donde lleva una vida opuesta a la del hogar. CHASE y MAGGIE la buscan frenéticamente, sin saber que LANCE le ha presentado a una mujer conectada con películas pornográficas. Los GIOBERTI se fortalecen más que nunca cuando el matrimonio debe someterse a una dura prueba antes de localizar a VICKIE. ANGELA juega con los sentimientos de DOUGLAS, despertando sus celos con un renombrado pintor que le pone en ridículo: "Aunque viviera mil años, nunca te comprendería" - le dice él. "Si llegaras a esa edad...serías demasiado viejo para mí" - afirma ella.

Angry with her parents for their excessive protectiveness, Vicky runs away from home to San Francisco, where she's lured into a wayward street life that she can't escape. Chase and Maggie frantically search for Vicky, unaware that Lance has introduced their vulnerable daughter to a woman connected with pornographic films. The Giobertis become stronger than ever when Chase and Maggie endure a difficult ordeal before locating Vicky. Angela toys with Douglas's emotions, playing him against a renowned painter and making Douglas look like a fool: "If I live to be a thousand, I'd never understand you" - he tells her. "If you live to be a thousand... you would be too old for me!" - Angela counters.

10. Victims (Víctimas)

El nuevo artículo de MAGGIE sobre la vida de los trabajadores de los viñedos se convierte en algo personal para los GIOBERTI cuando los peones ilegales dejan de trabajar para CHASE, que le pide a MAGGIE que investigue la razón en sus entrevistas con ellos. Cuando descubre que un hombre les extorsiona con amenazas de deportación, a pesar de la advertencia de ANGELA para que se mantenga al margen, CHASE consigue acabar con sus maniobras. Al descubrir que EMMA está embarazada, LANCE se da cuenta de que lo último que necesita es otro heredero que compita por la fortuna de FALCON CREST. Entonces, EMMA cae accidentalmente por las escaleras durante una discusión con él, y pierde el niño que esperaba.

Maggie's news assignment on vineyard worker's lifestyles becomes a personal concern to the Giobertis when Maggie's interviews reveal that an extortionist is terrifying Falcon Crest employees. Puzzled as to why undocumented workers suddenly stop working for him, Chase urges Maggie to find out the reason through her interviews. When Chase learns that a man is blackmailing the vineyard workers with threats of deportation, he, despite Angela's warnings against becoming involved, manages to rout the extortionist. When Emma discovers that she is pregnant, Lance realizes that the last thing he needs is another heir competing for the Falcon Crest fortune. Consequently, Emma tumbles down a flight of stairs and has a miscarriage.

11. For Love or Money (Por dinero o amor)

ANGELA revela a LANCE los planes que tiene para él: "Los viñedos de CARLO AGRETTI son los mejores del valle, casi tanto como los nuestros. Deberían unirse". El responde: "Abuela, ni siquiera conozco a su hija." "MELISSA AGRETTI es la única hija de CARLO y es una joven encantadora. Ahora siéntate..." Pero LANCE se marcha lleno de ira y, después de estar a punto de atropellar a una chica, LORI, se enamora de ella y decide mudarse a SAN FRANCISCO para estar con ella. Sin embargo, cuando ANGELA trata de detenerle, LANCE sucumbe y abandona a LORI.

En una vieja habitación que JASON había tapiado, CHASE encuentra unas cartas que le llevan a creer que ANGELA pudo haber sido la responsable de la invalidez de una chica cuarenta años antes. Enfrentada a las pruebas, ANGELA le devuelve la jugada a CHASE al dejarle escuchar parte de una grabación en la que parece que JASON odiaba a su hijo.

Angela reveals to Lance her plans for him: "Carlo Agretti's vineyards are some of the finest in the valley. Almost as good as ours. They belong together". He replies: "Grandmother, I don't even know his daughter." "Melissa Agretti is Carlo's only child and she's a lovely girl. Now sit down!" But Lance leaves in a fury. After he nearly runs over a girl, he falls in love with her and decides to move to San Francisco to be close to the girl. However, when Angela attempts to stop him, Lance succumbs and leaves the love of his life.

In an old room that Jason had walled up, Chase finds some writings, which lead him to believe that Angela may have been involved in crippling a girl forty years ago. Confronted with the evidence, Angela turns the tables on Chase, playing a small excerpt of a recording that leaves Chase believing that his father hated him.

JACQUELINE PERRAULT, la millonaria madre de CHASE, regresa envuelta de misterio a FALCON CREST. Cuando advierte a CHASE en contra de la naturaleza traicionera de ANGELA e intenta convencerle para que se marche, resurgen las antiguas rencillas y JACQUELINE discute con ANGELA y CHASE. Sin embargo, a través de ese conflicto se refuerza la relación entre madre e hijo. JACQUELINE está segura de que CHASE sobrevivirá y prosperará en el valle.

Angela is angry that Lance is working for his grandfather's newspaper in San Francisco: "You're not going to be just seeing Melissa Agretti - she threatens him - You're going to marry her." "Over my dead body - he says. "Whatever you prefer" - is Angela´s response. At the same time, she plans to destroy Melissa's budding romance with Cole. Chase and Maggie, concerned about Emma's instability, persuade Julia to take her sister to a local psychiatric clinic. When Angela finds out, she tells Julia the truth about Emma killing Uncle Jason, which turns Julia against Chase and Maggie. Also, Chase uses his influence as a county supervisor to discover the real cause of his father's death.

CHASE sigue investigando las circunstancias que rodearon la muerte de su padre. ANGELA intenta detenerle haciendo que PHILLIP insinúe a CHASE podría heredar FALCON CREST, pero él no cree el engaño. Después de una fiesta en casa de los GIOBERTI, un amigo de COLE muere en un accidente de coche cuando COLE se niega a llevarle a casa. ANGELA presiona a LANCE para que se case con MELISSA, que por su parte siente una fuerte atracción hacia COLE. Pero cuando MELISSA descubre que está embarazada, no se lo dice a nadie.

Chase begins to make inquiries into the circumstances surrounding his father's death. Angela, in an attempt to foil Chase, has Philip mislead Chase into believing he might inherit Falcon Crest. However, Chase doesn't fall for her trickery. Following a party at the Gioberti's, Cole's friend is killed in an auto accident after Cole refuses to drive him home. Angela attempts to force Lance to marry Melissa, who instead has become deeply involved with Cole. However, when Melissa learns she is pregnant, she tells no one.

Presionado por ANGELA, LANCE propone matrimonio a MELISSA creyendo que, dado que ambos se detestan, ella rehusará su propuesta. Cuando hace lo contrario, LANCE debe asumir que tendrá que seguir con los planes de su abuela. MELISSA tiene sus propios motivos para querer casarse con él, además del pacto entre su padre y ANGELA para fusionar ambos viñedos. COLE se enfurece al saberlo y MELISSA le asegura que ese matrimonio no afectará a la relación que mantienen. Otra boda está a punto de celebrarse cuando VICKIE y MARIO deciden fugarse, pero cambian de opinión en el último minuto. LANCE descubre después de la boda que MELISSA ya está embarazada:

"Ni lo sueñes, MELISSA. No te tocaré" - asegura LANCE. "No tendrás que hacerlo" - dice MELISSA, divertida - "Voy a tener un hijo." "Seguro que no es mío." "Ahora sí" - añade ella.

Pressured by Angela, Lance proposes to Melissa Agretti with the consolation in mind that they dislike one another and that he knows Melissa will reject his proposal. When she surprisingly accepts his offer, Lance, shattered, is forced to go through with the ceremony. Melissa has her own cunning reasons for marrying Lance, aside from her father and Angela's scheme to merge Falcon Crest with Agretti Vineyards. When Cole fumes about the arrangement, Melissa assures him that her marriage to Lance won't interfere with their relationship. Another wedding almost takes place as Vicky and Mario decide to elope, but they change their minds at the last minute. Lance discovers that Melissa is pregnant:

"Don´t flatter yourself, I wouldn´t touch you" - assures LANCE. "You won´t have to" - says an amused MELISSA."We´re going to have a baby." "Well, it´s not mine" "It is now" - she adds.

17. Penultimate Questions (Penúltimas preguntas)

Mientras EMMA cada día está más cerca de revelar la verdad sobre la muerte de JASON, CHASE no ceja en su propia investigación. Seguro ya de que la muerte de su padre fue misteriosa, reúne por fin pruebas suficientes para presentar al fiscal del distrito quien, a su vez, solicita una investigación forense de la muerte de JASON. Cuando ANGELA intenta impedirlo, es obligada a testificar. Después de ser dado de alta del hospital, DOUGLAS trata de ayuda a EMMA y la conduce hasta el juzgado. Pero antes de que pueda testificar, DOUGLAS sufre un ataque cardiaco y fallece. EMMA se escapa mientras ANGELA culpa de ello a CHASE. Además, la noticia del embarazo de MELISSA lleva a pensar a la matriarca que, a pesar de la desastrosa luna de miel, LANCE cumplió con sus obligaciones de marido, a pesar de su resistencia.

While Emma draws closer to revealing the truth about Jason's death to outsiders, Chase steadily draws closer to learning the truth through his investigation. No longer speculating over his father's mysterious death, Chase finally gathers enough concrete evidence to go to the D.A., who in turn, calls for a coroner's inquest into Jason's death. While Angela attempts to impede this, she is forced to testify. Following his release from the hospital, Douglas tries to help Emma and escorts her to the inquest. However, before she can testify, Douglas has a fatal seizure and dies. After witnessing this, Emma runs off while Angela blames Chase. Angela learns of Melissa's pregnancy following a disastrous honeymoon and assumes Lance to be the father, despite his denial.

El temporal sigue azotando a las familias protagonistas, tras la denuncia de CHASE. La muerte de DOUGLAS, el ex marido de ANGELA y dueño del San Francisco Globe, viene a dificultar las cosas, pero así y todo la investigación prosigue. Declaran ANGELA y CHASE, intentando sus abogados, PHILLIP ERIKSON y DEERING, que prevalezca la primacía de la postura de cada uno de sus representados sobre la del otro. La cesión testamentaria del periódico aporta una revelación inesperada: DOUGLAS tenía un hijo llamado RICHARD. Ciertas declaraciones ponen en entredicho la hasta ahora sólida respetabildad y reputación de ANGELA. Finalmente, el juez dictamina que la muerte de JASON se produjo en circunstancias misteriosas y, por tanto, FALCON CREST debe pasar a manos de CHASE. Pero a la salida de los Juzgados, CHASE propone a ANGELA compartir la propiedad y dirigirla al 50 %, a lo que ella accede, confiando luego a su abogado: “Cree que ha ganado...”

When Douglas is buried, Angela tries to keep Emma sedated to prevent her from testifying. Angela could lose Falcon Crest to Chase if his attorney can prove that Jason died under suspicious circumstances. When the coroner's inquest resumes, the D.A. mounts a circumstantial case that is easily rebutted by Erikson when Emma is unable to testify. Defying her mother, Emma manages to escape Falcon Crest and arrives to take the stand, confessing how she accidentally pushed Jason to his death while he fought with Turner Bates. The jury rules that Jason "died at the hands of another," thereby giving Chase control of Falcon Crest, but he magnanimously offers fifty percent of the vineyard to Angela. Though Angela detests the thought of sharing Falcon Crest with anyone, she has no choice and accepts. Another threat looms as Angela learns of Douglas's illegitimate son, Richard Channing, who has inherited fifty percent of The Globe. At the last scene, she confides her lawyer: “He thinks he´s won..."
