ANGELA se resiste a ceder ante CHASE cuando este le reclama su mitad de la propiedad de FALCON CREST. LANCE, amargado ya porque deberá compartir su herencia con MELISSA, acepta gustoso la misión de mantener a CHASE lejos de los viñedos. RICHARD CHANNING, el hijo ilegítimo del difunto marido de ANGELA, se prepara para hacerse con el control del Globe como nuevo presidente del consejo, mientras ANGELA busca una forma de bloquearlo: "¡No es más que un juego! Cuando COLE aparece en casa de los AGRETTI exigiendo que MELISSA reconozca que es el padre del hijo que espera y no LANCE, CARLO le da un puñetazo. Angela resists Chase's claims to half ownership of Falcon Crest. Lance, already bitter over the prospect of sharing his inheritance with Melissa, gladly accepts the assignment of keeping Chase off the vineyard property. Richard Channing, illegitimate son of Angela's late husband, prepares to take control of The Globe as the new chairman of the board, while Angela looks for a way to block him: "It's just a game! Life is a battle. A war to be won."

When Cole shows up at the Agretti's demanding that Melissa acknowledge that she is carrying Cole's child and not Lance's, Carlo punches him in the face. After Gus dies in a gas explosion, Chase threatens Angela with an affidavit accusing her of complicity in Gus's death. He then forces Angela to agree in sharing the operation of Falcon Crest with him. When they are alone, Phillip advices Angela: "There's really no point in fighting this anymore..." But she answers in a rage: "Fight! I haven't even begun to fight!"

2/20. The Arrival (La llegada)

Cuando MELISSA revela a CARLO sus ambiciones de controlar FALCON CREST, CARLO informa su hija que se enfrenta a un poderoso rival, RICHARD CHANNING, de quien se rumorea que está vinculado a la C.I.A. y al Parlamento Británico. In his new role on the Tuscany Valley County Board of Supervisors, Chase meets resistance in his efforts to break Angela's grip on county water supplies: "I just want everyone in this valley to have the chance to survive!" - he tells her. "More land is more strenght and only the strongs survive, Chase!" - Angela assures.

When Melissa tells Carlo about her ambitions to control Falcon Crest, Carlo informs his daughter that she faces a powerful rival in Richard Channing, who is rumored to have ties to the C.I.A. and the British Parliament.Richard shows his ruthlessness by firing The Globe's longtime editor-in-chief, Herb Talmadge, who was only a year from retirement and a pension. After Angela tells Richard that he looks nothing like his father Douglas, Richard explodes after she leaves, vowing to ruin her.

3/21. Troubled Waters (Aguas turbias)

CARLO es presionado por RICHARD para que le venda su conglomerado vinícola: "Antes o después cambiará de opinión. Por su bien, espero que sea antes. Y esto no es una amenaza, créame. Guardo mis amenazas para oponentes dignos de ellas, no para pobres ancianos." Entonces, CARLO escupe a la cara de RICHARD y se enfrenta a ANGELA respecto al trato despectivo que muestra LANCE hacia MELISSA. Además, jura que ANGELA nunca conseguirá las tierras de MELISSA a través del matrimonio de su hija con LANCE. CHASE sólo quiere distribuir vino de Falcon Crest en Canadá mediante el distribuidor KLEEGER, que obtiene un gran descuento en su vino. ANGELA es la propietaria en secreto de KLEEGER y encarga a LANCE que evite que CHASE lo descubra. Para contrarrestar los esfuerzos de CHASE en la junta para acabar con su monopolio del agua del valle y distribuirla entre otros cultivadores, ANGELA afirma que su agua está contaminada. A su vez, CHASE ordena realizar otra prueba al agua de Falcon Crest que indica lo contrario. COLE se enzarza en una pelea con CARLO, que luego le telefonea para disculparse y le invita a su casa para ver a MELISSA. Ignorante de que CARLO tiene una pistola apuntando a su cabeza, COLE accede a ello y encuentra el cadáver de CARLO, convirtiéndose en el principal sospechoso de su asesinato.

Carlo is pressured by Richard to sell his winery holdings: "Sooner or later, you're going to change your mind. For your sake, I hope it's sooner. And that wasn't a threat. Believe me, I save my threats for worthy opponents, not old men past their prime." Then Carlo spits in Richard's face, and confronts Angela about Lance's abusiveness toward Melissa and vows that Angela will never get Carlo's land through his daughter's marriage to Lance. Chase wants to distribute Falcon Crest's wine in Canada through a distributor other than Kleeger, which gets a big discount on their wine. Angela secretly owns Kleeger, and she charges Lance with keeping Chase from finding out. To counter Chase's efforts on the County Board of Supervisors to break her monopoly on the valley's water and distribute it to other growers, Angela claims her water is tainted. In turn, Chase orders another test of Falcon Crest's water supply that shows it not to be tainted. Cole gets into a fight with Carlo, who later telephones to apologize to Cole and invite him over to see Melissa. Not knowing that Carlo has leveled a pistol to his own head, Cole arrives to discover Carlo's body and becomes the prime suspect in Carlo's murder.

4/22. Murder One (Primer asesinato)

ANGELA amenaza a NICK HOGAN para que no vote con CHASE y contra ella en la reunión de la junta. Si NICK vota para redistribuir el agua de Falcon Crest a otros viñedos, ANGELA le advierte que no le comprará tuberías valoradas en 17.000 dólares. NICK decide votar a favor de CHASE y ANGELA asegura a este que llegará a lamentar su momento de gloria.

EMMA desaparece y entrega en secreto a CHASE su derecho a voto por el 20% del Globe antes de marcharse, algo que ANGELA ansiaba para poder controlar la junta directiva del periódico. RICHARD publica un artículo sensacionalista que insinúa que COLE asesinó a CARLO AGRETTI. Cuando le pide a MELISSA que le venda la mansión AGRETTI, ella sospecha que RICHARD podría tener que ver con la muerte de su padre. COLE es detenido por el asesinato de CARLO cuando sus huellas se encuentran en la estatuilla usada para matarle.

Angela threatens Nick Hogan not to vote with Chase against her at the county supervisor meeting. If Nick votes to redistribute Falcon Crest's water to other vineyards, Angela warns that she won't be buying the $17,000 worth of pipes she was going to buy from him. Nick casts his decisive vote with Chase, and Angela warns Chase that he will come to regret his moment of glory.

Emma disappears, secretly giving Chase the voting proxy to her twenty percent share of The Globe before she leaves -- the same proxy Angela hoped would give her control of the newspaper's board of directors. Richard prints a sensational article suggesting Cole murdered Carlo Agretti. When Richard asks Melissa to sell her the Agretti house, she suspects that Richard could have had a hand in her father's death. Cole is arrested for Carlo's murder after Cole's fingerprints are found on the statuette used to kill Carlo.

5/23. The Exposé (La declaración)

CHASE y MAGGIE depositan la fianza de COLE y este empieza a trabajar a tiempo parcial en el viñedo de una hermosa madre soltera, KATHERINE DEMERY. La denuncia de las condiciones de los peones de Falcon Crest por parte del diario de RICHARD lleva a CHASE a comprometerse públicamente a aumentar su jornal y sus beneficios, así como a realizar cambios en las leyes laborales de la región.

LANCE accede a acompañar a MELISSA a las clases de parto natural pero se niega a entrar con ella, prefiriendo pasar su tiempo con LORI STEVENS, su antigua novia: "¡El parto natural es cosa de dos!" - se queja ella. "Tú pondrás de moda lo contrario" - responde LANCE. MELISSA siente celos de la atractiva KATHERINE y más tarde, la relación laboral de esta y COLE se convierte en romántica. RICHARD le dice a su reportero BLAIR que quiere que condenen a COLE.

Chase and Maggie post Cole's bail, and Cole starts working part-time at the vineyard of a stunningly beautiful single mother, Katherine Demery. Richard's newspaper expose of workers' conditions at Falcon Crest leads Chase to publicly commit to higher wages and benefits for the workers, as well as changes in local labor laws.

Lance agrees to take Melissa to child-birthing classes but refuses to attend, opting instead to spend time with Lori Stevens, his former girlfriend: "Natural childbirth takes two!" - she complains. "You'll be a trendsetter" - Lance says. Melissa is jealous of Katherine's attractiveness, and later Cole and Katherine's working relationship turns romantic. Richard tells his reporter, Blair, that he wants Cole convicted.

6/24. Home Away From Home (Una casa fuera del hogar)

Contra los deseos de MAGGIE, COLE se va a vivir con su amante KATHERINE. RICHARD lo descubre y llena el Globe de fotos clandestinas de ellos dos besándose. JACQUELINE PERRAULT llega desde ZURICH en visita sorpresa y entrega a CHASE dinero para la defensa legal de COLE, pero RICHARD usa sus contactos en Zurich para obligarla a marcharse. ANGELA adquiere un considerable paquete de acciones del Globe y le sigue la pista a EMMA para hacerse con sus acciones. LORI exige que LANCE haga pública su relación y él se muestra insolente cuando MELISSA le echa en cara sus salidas nocturnas. Después de una repentina complicación en el embarazo de MELISSA que la deja postrada en la cama, ANGELA presiona a LANCE para que pase más tiempo con su mujer.

Against Maggie's wishes, Cole moves in with his new lover, Katherine Demery. Richard finds out and plasters The Globe with clandestine photographs of Cole and Katherine kissing. Jacqueline Perrault, Chase's mother, arrives from Zurich for a surprise visit and gives Chase money for Cole's legal defense, but Richard uses his contacts in Zurich to force Jacqueline to leave town. Angela buys up expensive stock in The Globe and continues tracking Emma to get her proxy. Lori demands that Lance come out in the open about their relationship. Lance is defiant when Melissa confronts him about his late night trysts. After a sudden complication in Melissa's pregnancy confines her to bed, however, Angela pressures Lance to spend more time with his wife.

7/25. The Namesake (En honor a su nombre)

RICHARD intriga para comprar una propiedad del condado para construir un parque, donde piensa levantar un monumento en homenaje a DOUGLAS en una pequeña zona y plantar viñedos en el resto. Mientras CHASE se opone con vehemencia a ello, RICHARD pone una bomba en el camión de NICK y le intimida para que vote a su favor en la reunión.

Desoyendo la orden del médico de guardar cama, MELISSA intenta recuperar a COLE y alejarlo de los brazos de KATHERINE, pero sufre un desmayo y la llevan al hospital, donde da a luz a un bebé prematuro y débil, que es bautizado como JOSEPH ANGELO CUMSON, en honor al tatarabuelo de LANCE. COLE decide marcharse de casa de KATHERINE y volver a la de sus padres.

Richard schemes to buy a piece of county property earmarked for a park, on which he plans to build a memorial to Douglas Channing on one small part and plant a vineyard on the rest. While Chase vehemently opposes the plan, Richard plants a bomb in Nick's truck and successfully intimidates Nick to vote his way at the board of supervisors meeting.

Leaving her rescribed bed rest in order to win Cole back from Katherine Demery, Melissa collapses and is taken to the hospital, where she delivers an unhealthy, premature baby, whom she names Joseph Angelo Cumson, after Lance's great-great-grandfather. After Cole moves out of Katherine Demery's house, he moves back into his parents' house.

8/26. Choices (La elección)

Los médicos vaticinan al hijo prematuro de MELISSA un 20% de posibilidades de supervivencia, a causa de sus múltiples problemas de salud. RICHARD utiliza una lucrativa oferta de trabajo para que TONY procure que JULIA venda su parte de Falcon Crest y del Globe. Sin embargo, el plan no funciona y JULIA queda destrozada. TONY descubre que la oferta de RICHARD no era auténtica.

Cuando COLE se fuga para evitar ser juzgado por el asesinato de CARLO, MELISSA accede a que se realice una segunda autopsia en el cadáver de su padre, con la esperanza de que ayude a exculpar a COLE. La autopsia revela que el asesino era diestro, lo cual hace que COLE sea liberado porque es zurdo.

Doctors give Melissa's premature baby, Joseph, who suffers from a host of health problems, a twenty percent chance of survival. Richard uses a lucrative job offer to entice Tony into securing Julia's agreement to sell off her interests in Falcon Crest and The New Globe. However, the plan backfires and Julia is devastated; Tony realizes Richard's job offer wasn't real.

When Cole goes on the run to avoid facing trial for the murder of Carlo Agretti, Melissa agrees to a second autopsy of her father's body hoping it will help clear Cole. The autopsy reveals that the killer must have been right-handed, whereas Cole is left-handed, and the charges are therefore dropped.

9/27. The Vigil (La vigilia)

MELISSA se muestra agradecida hacia RICHARD cuando este hace posible que un especialista neonatal acuda desde Europa para que salvar a su bebé. MAGGIE viaja a LOS ANGELES para conocer al productor de su guión, DARRYL CLAYTON. Cuando DARRYL rechaza el guión, ANGELA se entrevista con él en secreto y accede a invertir en el film siempre y cuando mantenga ocupada a MAGGIE en L.A. Cuando surge un idilio entre VICKIE y el socio de su padre, NICK, ella descubre por COLE que es un hombre casado.

CHASE averigua que ANGELA emplea los fondos de Falcon Crest para adquirir acciones del Globe. Cuando CHASE habla a NICK de su guerra con ANGELA y su intento de controlar el periódico, RICHARD se entera enseguida y se enfrenta a ella. Cuando mejora la salud de JOSEPH, COLE promete ser un padre devoto. RICHARD da la paga y señal de una casa en el Valle.

Melissa is grateful when Richard flies a neo-natal specialist in from Europe to keep her baby alive. Maggie travels to Los Angeles to meet with producer Darryl Clayton about her screenplay. After Darryl turns the script down, Angela meets Darryl in secret and agrees to invest in the film if he will keep Maggie occupied in Los Angeles. As a romantic relationship develops between Vickie Gioberti and her father's associate, Nick Hogan, Vickie finds out from Cole that Nick is married.

Chase discovers that Angela is using all of Falcon Crest's investment funds to buy up stock in The New Globe. After Chase confides with Nick about his war with Angela and her attempt to take over the newspaper, Richard soon finds out and confronts Angela. As Joseph's condition improves, Cole vows to be a loving father. Richard puts a down payment on a house in Tuscany Valley.

10/28. Confrontations (Enfrentamientos)

VICKIE quiere convencer a COLE para que revele a sus padres que el hijo de MELISSA también es hijo suyo, pero nunca surge la oportunidad. PHILLIP celebra una cena romántica con AMANDA CROFT, una bella cincuentona. Existe química entre ellos pero AMANDA sospecha que él puede mantener una relación con ANGELA. Cuando DARRYL consigue que MAGGIE le dé un apasionado beso en su casa de MALIBU, ella se asusta y vuelva de vuelta a casa. Justo cuando ANGELA ha acumulado suficientes acciones para controlar el Globe, RICHARD anuncia que va a emtir dos millones más de acciones, una estrategia que ANGELA y PHILLIP no habían previsto.

Sin embargo, los dos conspiran para que un banquero de WALL STREET llamado KENDERSON se entreviste con el evasivo RICHARD para proponerle respaldar la emisión de acciones y aplazarla lo suficiente para que ANGELA obtenga el control del periódico. Vicky talks Cole into informing their parents that Cole is the father of Melissa's baby, but the opportunity never comes up. Phillip has a romantic dinner with Amanda Croft, a beautiful woman in her fifties. There is chemistry between them, but Amanda is suspicious of Phillip's relationship with Angela. When Darryl seduces Maggie into a passionate kiss at his Malibu home, Maggie panics and flies back home to Chase. Just as Angela has nearly bought up enough New Globe stock to control the company, Richard announces he is going to issue two million dollars more of stock, which is a strategy that Angela and Phillip hadn't foreseen.

However, Angela and Phillip secretly arrange for a Wall Street banker named Kenderson to approach the unwitting Richard. Kenderson proposes to underwrite the new stock issue thereby delaying the offer long enough for Angela to get control of the newspaper. Meanwhile, Chase's mother, Jacqueline, has researched Angela's business dealings in Europe and provides Chase with proof of Angela's illegal financial activities. Richard offers Phillip a large sum of money to work for him, but withdraws the offer when Phillip plays hard-to-get.

11/29. United We Stand... (¿Estamos unidos?)

En la bodega, ANGELA sigue enfrentando a LANCE y COLE. CHASE descubre que RICHARD planea usar una empresa-fantasma para adquirir uva al doble del precio de mercado. En contra de la amenaza de RICHARD, JACQUELINE quiere que CHASE se una al primero en su lucha contra ANGELA. Cuando COLE intenta decirle a LANCE que es el padre del hijo de MELISSA, ella se opone con firmeza.

ANGELA ofrece más dinero a DARRYL para que mantenga la esperanza de MAGGIE de que su guión se convertirá en película. A pesar de que ha sobornado al banquero de RICHARD para que posponga la emisión de nuevas acciones, ANGELA sigue necesitando los votos de CHASE en el Globe para poder controlarlo. At the winery, Angela plays Lance and Cole against each other. Chase finds out that Richard is planning to use a false company front to buy up grapes at twice the going rate. Despite the threat from Richard, Jacqueline wants Chase to work with Richard against Angela. When Cole wants to tell Lance that he is the father of Melissa's child, Melissa strongly opposes it.

Angela offers Darryl more money to maintain Maggie's hopes of getting her script produced. In spite of bribing Richard's banker, Kenderson, into postponing the new stock issue, Angela still needs Chase's votes on The New Globe board to take over the newspaper. When Chase arrives at Richard's office to deliver a construction injunction on his new winery, Jacqueline surprises both of them with news that she gave Richard up for adoption when he was a baby, which means that Richard and Chase are half-brothers.

RICHARD se niega a escuchar por qué JACQUELINE lo entregó en adopción. A pesar de que se retiraron los cargos contra él por el asesinato de CARLO, COLE sigue sufriendo el acoso de la policía y la comunidad. Tras apelar falsamente a sus lazos fraternales, RICHARD pide a CHASE que vote contra la oferta de ANGELA en el consejo del Globe. A su vez, CHASE consigue que RICHARD detenga la construcción de su bodega a cambio de sus votos. LANCE y su acompañante BRENDA asisten a la Fiesta del Día del Fundador, donde ANGELA se enfurece al encontrarlos juntos en la cama. RICHARD y MELISSA no sólo se confiesan su mutua atracción sino que él también anuncia a los asistentes que por fin ha encontrado a su madre, JACQUELINE. Entonces ANGELA la denuncia públicamente por haber arruinado su matrimonio con DOUGLAS: "Tú, bruja..." le dice a JACQUELINE.

Richard rejects Jacqueline's explanation of why she gave him up for adoption. Despite being cleared of charges for Carlo Agretti's murder, Cole is continually harassed by the police and the community. By making an insincere appeal to their brotherly bond, Richard asks Chase to vote against Angela's take-over bid of The New Globe's board. In turn, Chase makes Richard give up construction of his winery, in exchange for his votes. Lance and his date Brenda attend Angela's annual Founder's Day Party at which Angela later becomes furious when she catches them in bed together. Richard and Melissa not only confess their attraction to each other, but Richard also announces to the entire party that he finally has found his mother, Jacqueline. Angela then publicly denounces Jacqueline for ruining her marriage with Douglas: "You bitch..." - she tells JACQUELINE.

Reina el caos en la Fiesta del Fundador después del anuncio de RICHARD sobre la identidad de su madre. Cuando CHASE se enfrenta a RICHARD, él alega que no le prometió guardarle el secreto a JACQUELINE, sólo a CHASE. Cuando ANGELA ataca a JACQUELINE, CHASE se ofrece a llevarla a casa. RICHARD llama adúltera a su madre y es golpeado por su hermanastro, tras lo cual CHASE y MAGGIE se marchan con JACQUELINE.

A la mañana siguiente, CHASE lamenta haber golpeado a RICHARD, mientras que JACQUELINE cree que lo ocurrido la noche anterior pertenece al pasado. Asimismo comprende la amargura de RICHARD, aunque CHASE difícilmente volverá a confiar en él. En Falcon Crest, MELISSA oye por casualidad a LANCE haciendo planes para verse con LORI. Angela's Founders' Day Party is in disarray following Richard's announcement that Jacqueline is his mother. When Chase confronts Richard on the veranda, Richard reasons he did not promise to keep Jacqueline's secret, only Chase's. When Angie turns on Jacqueline, Chase suggests taking her home. After Richard calls his mother an adulteress, Chase strikes his half-brother, and subsequently Chase and Maggie whisk Jacqueline away.

The next morning, Chase regrets hitting Richard, while Jacqueline believes that the events of the previous night are in the past. She also understands Richard's bitterness, although Chase may never trust Richard again. At Falcon Crest, Melissa overhears Lance making plans to meet Lori. Melissa's attorneys are still evaluating all offers. Angela gives Lance orders about how to handle Joseph´s birth: "Until I inform you differently, you are the baby's father... and don't you forget it".

En Falcon Crest, ANGELA exige a LANCE que no vuelva a mencionar los resultados de la prueba de paternidad de JOSEPH: para ella, LANCE es su padre legalmente. EMMA ha sido localizada en algún lugar de TEJAS y su situación exacta podrá ser verificada antes de una semana. Intentando evitar que ANGELA se enfade, PHILLIP señala que tiene a LANCE donde quería, MELISSA pronto se verá obligada a venderle los viñedos AGRETTI, CHASE tiene problemas tanto personales como políticos (al defender a COLE) y JACQUELINE por fin se ha marchado.

Tras reconsiderar sus cumplidos, ANGELA invita a PHILLIP a salir a navegar con ella al día siguiente. At Chase's office, Sheriff Robbins warns Chase to stop interfering with the Agretti investigation or he will be charged with obstruction of justice. Chase informs him that he intends to keep digging for leads. When Chase relates his run-in to Sheriff Robbins, Maggie pleads with Chase to drop the issue. At Falcon Crest, Angie demands that Lance never mention Joseph's test results again. To Angie, Lance is the child's legal father. Emma has been tracked down somewhere in Texas and her exact location should be verified in about a week. Attempting to avert Angie's anger, Phillip points out that Lance is where Angie wants him, Melissa will soon be forced to sell the Agretti vineyards, Chase is having both personal and political problems (vindicating Cole's complicity), and Jacqueline is finally gone for good.

Reconsidering her accomplishments, Angie invites herself to go sailing with Phillip the next day. Later in the lab, Lance complains to his mother about Angie's ignoring Joseph's tests results, and then to Chao-Li: "A life with Melissa creates only aggravation." Even Lance does not know who the baby's father is. Vicky realizes Cole is serious about getting custody of his son. Meanwhile in San Francisco, as Melissa and Richard dine, he tries to convince her that he wants to put down roots in the Tuscany Valley, maybe even with her. Alone with his assistant Diana, Richard discusses the meeting: "Now you know the Agretti property is not going to be easy to get." "If you think it's worth prostituting yourself for" - Diana answers. "Diana my dear, - says Richard - for these stakes, I will gladly turn an occasional trick."

15/33. Broken Promises (Promesas rotas)

El cuerpo inconsciente de COLE yace en el suelo del garaje cerrado de los GIOBERTI mientras el humo mortal del tubo de escape llena el lugar. En la casa, CHASE oye un ruido en la lejanía y, tras forzar la puerta del garaje, saca de él a COLE, llama a MAGGIE y luego le hace el boca a boca a su hijo. Después de hacer el amor, NICK se siente incómodo por tener que llevar a VICKIE de vuelta a casa. En Falcon Crest, las sirenas rompen el silencio de la finca.

Cuando el coche de NICK se acerca a casa de los GIOBERTI para dejar a VICKIE, los adelantan vehículos con luces rojas. Al observar que van al mismo sitio, NICK acelera y llega a casa de ella justo detrás de la ambulancia y otros vehículos. Un equipo de urgencias intenta reavivar el cuerpo de COLE.

Cole's unconscious body is still limp on the floor as deadly exhaust fumes fill the closed Gioberti garage. Inside the house, Chase, in bed with Maggie, is distracted by a distant sound outside. After ripping open the door, Chase drags Cole out, shouts for Maggie, then desperately administers C.P.R. to his son. After Nick and Vicky make love, he is uncomfortable as he prepares to take her back to their meeting place in town. At Falcon Crest, sirens disrupt the silence of the household.

When Nick's Packard instead heads to the Giobertis´ to drop Vicky off, vehicles with red lights flashing, whiz past them. Realizing they are headed to the same place, Nick steps on the gas and arrives at the Gioberti's, right behind an ambulance and several vehicles. A team of paramedics revives Cole.

Durante el desayuno, LANCE entrega a MELISSA el periódico con los titulares anunciando que él no es el padre del bebé de MELISSA. Sin embargo, MELISSA sabe que RICHARD ha publicado eso porque no quiere venderle la propiedad de su padre. Cuando ANGELA descubre que las evidencias de RICHARD son los resultados de la prueba de paternidad de LANCE, ANGELA decide desheredar a LANCE: "Sólo sé lo que leo en los periódicos" - afirma él. "Bien, ¿qué te parece este titular: el nieto de ANGELA CHANNING, LANCE CUMSON, desheredado?" - responde ella.

Cuando COLE, en su casa, ve el mismo artículo, cree que MELISSA por fin ha revelado la verdad sobre su paternidad de JOSEPH. CHASE sabe que nunca acabará el acoso contra COLE hasta que se descubra quién mató a CARLO. ANGELA visita en el hospital a ELLIOT McKAY quien, pese a su grave enfermedad, rehúsa la oferta de ANGELA para comprar su viñedo. VICKIE se cita en el pueblo con NICK, que confiesa haberse enamorado de ella.

En el Globe, MELISSA se enfrenta con RICHARD por el artículo y, cuando este se niega a publicar una retractación, ella le amenaza con denunciarle por libelo. RICHARD le agradece la publicidad adicional que supondría y, cuando compra la tierra de McKAY, le hace una visita a ANGELA: "Sólo quería decirte en persona lo mucho que ansío tenerte por vecina". "Sólo hay buenos vecinos cuando hay buenas vallas por medio. No te interpongas en mi camino" - advierte. "Sabía que podía contar con tu cálida bienvenida" - responde con ironía RICHARD.

During breakfast, Lance presents the paper for Melissa to see and thinks he is off the hook. However, Melissa knows that Richard printed this because she would not sell him her father's property. When Angie learns that Richard's evidence is from the paternity results that Lance gave him, Angie denounces Lance's inheritance:"All I know is what I read on the papers" - says Lance. "Well, try this as a headline: Angela Channing's grandson, Lance Cumson, disinherited" - answers Angela.

At home, Cole, referring to the same article, thinks Melissa finally told the truth about Cole's fatherhood to Joseph. Chase knows they will never hear the end of this until Carlo Agretti's murderer is found. At the hospital, Angie visits Elliot McKay, who, although quite ill, defiantly rejects Angie's offer to buy his vineyard. In town, Vickie meets Nick, who professes his love for her.

At The Globe, Melissa confronts Richard about the newspaper article and when Richard refuses to print a retraction, Melissa threatens to sue him for libel. Richard welcomes the extra publicity and, when buys McKay´s land, pays Angela a visit: "I just want to tell you in person how much I look forward having you for a neighbour". "Good fences make good neighbors. You stay out of my way - she says. "I knew I could count on your warm welcome - Richard ironicly replies.

LORI se enfada con LANCE porque este no muestra ningún interés en encontrar un nuevo empleo, y ya ha pasado una semana desde que ANGELA le echó de Falcon Crest. CHASE recibe otra queja del Sheriff por haber llevado al fiscal del distrito la carta que CARLO recibió de ANGELA, ya que él no cree que incrimine a esta en su asesinato. DIANA informa a RICHARD que casi todo el mundo menos ANGELA ha aceptado su invitación a la inauguración de su casa en los terrenos de McKAY. RICHARD confía en que ANGELA también asista ya que estarán presentes tres de los críticos de vino más respetados del país. RICHARD quiere que sus nuevos vecinos se percaten de que la compra de los viñedos de McKAY sólo fue "el primer paso de un viaje mucho más largo." En Falcon Crest, ANGELA no sólo le dice a JULIA que piensa ir a la fiesta, sino que, al contrario que LANCE, ella es capaz de ser flexible. ANGELA amenaza con dejárselo todo a COLE. Sin embargo, este no será reconocido como el padre de JOSEPH, al menos hasta que ANGELA posea los viñedos de AGRETTI.

Lori is irritated that Lance keeps procrastinating in looking for work, since it has been a week since Angela threw Lance out of Falcon Crest. Ultimately, Lori gives in, and they make love. At Chase's office, Chase catches heat from Sheriff Robbins about going to the D.A. with Carlo Agretti's letter from Angela. Robbins doesn't believe the letter incriminates Angie in Carlo's murder. In Richard's office, Diana informs Richard that nearly everyone but Angela has accepted the invitation to Richard's housewarming at the McKay place. Richard is confident Angie will be there, since the party will have three of the nation's most respected wine critics. Richard wants his new neighbors to realize that buying the McKay vineyards was just "the first step of a much longer journey." At Falcon Crest, Angie not only tells Julia she has decided to go to Richard's party, but that Angie has the ability to be flexible, unlike Lance. Angie threatens to give everything to Cole. However, he will not be acknowledged as Joseph's father, at least not until Angie has the Agretti's vineyard.

Más tarde, JULIA queda con MAGGIE para intentar convencerla de que vuelva con CHASE. VICKIE discute con NICK por sus tratos con RICHARD. En Falcon Crest, CHASE se enfrenta a ANGELA por haber contratado a BITTERMAN. JULIA se ofrece a ayudarle en la investigación del asesinato de CHASE, ya que han emitido una orden judicial para que no siga con ella.

Early in the morning at the Gioberti house, Chase is cleaning the garage. Vickie appears with a cup of coffee for him, and suggests that he should go see Maggie, but Chase stubbornly refuses because Maggie was the one who abandoned him. Cole arrives later and tells his father if he wants to quit the investigation, he will understand. However, Chase has no intention of quitting.

Later that day, Julia meets Maggie for tea at the Tuscany Inn and tries to convince Maggie to return to Chase and not make the mistake that she did. At the jogging track, Vickie argues with Nick about his dealings with Richard Channing. Back at Falcon Crest, Chase confronts Angie about hiring Bitterman. As Chase storms out, Julia stops him to offer her help in his investigation of Carlo's murder. Because there is an injunction against Chase, he accepts Julia's offer as Angie eavesdrops from inside.

CHASE, COLE y el Sheriff ayudan a los bomberos a apagar el fuego del coche accidentado de JULIA, que sin embargo ha sobrevivido y afirma haber salido disparada de él después de perder el control de los frenos. CHASE asegura al Sheriff que no fue un accidente y menciona la carta amenazadora que recibió JULIA. COLE recuerda a su padre que habían concertado una cita con MELISSA en los viñedos AGRETTI y CHASE le pide que vaya a buscarla mientras él se acerca al hospital. Sin embargo, cuando COLE llega al cobertizo, encuentra sola a MELISSA sola, esperando impaciente a FONG.

Cuando COLE le informa del accidente, MELISSA le asegura que los frenos del coche funcionaban perfectamente cuando ella le pidió prestado el auto el día anterior. En el hospital, ANGELA, LANCE y CHASE esperan nerviosos y ven llegar a VICKIE y MAGGIE. En su despacho de San Francisco, RICHARD le dice a PHILLIP que convenza a los vinateros independientes de que le vendan a él en lugar de a Falcon Crest. PHILLIP trata de disuadirle a causa del dinero que ello implicaría, pero RICHARD quiere arruinar a ANGELA y a CHASE.

At Julia's overturned car, as Chase, Cole and Sheriff Robbins help the firemen extinguish the flames, they hear a weak voice calling for help. Chase sees Julia, who was apparently thrown from the car into the brush, and rushes to her. Julia informs Chase that the brakes went out. The paramedics arrive and take her away on a stretcher. Chase tells Robbins that this was not an accident, mentioning the threatening letter to Julia. Cole then reminds Chase that they still must meet Melissa at the Agretti's vineyard. Chase tells Cole to get Melissa while he goes to the hospital. However, when Cole arrives at the Agretti's tool shed, he finds Melissa alone, impatiently waiting for Fong.

When Cole tells her of Julia's accident, Melissa asserts that the brakes were functioning properly when she borrowed the car the day before. At the hospital, Angie, Lance, and Chase nervously wait while a few minutes later, Vicky and Maggie arrive. In Richard's San Francisco office, Richard tells Phillip to persuade the independent vineyards to sell to him instead of Falcon Crest. Phillip tries to dissuade him because of the money involved, however Richard wants to ruin Angela and Chase.

MELISSA y LANCE parecen no tener prisa en levantarse de la cama cuando CHAO-LI les lleva el desayuno. Este le reprocha su comportamiento cuando debería estar ayudando a CHASE a hacer inventario. MELISSA le pregunta a LANCE si ha localizado a su padre y él dice que no. MELISSA sugiere que le pidan ayuda a RICHARD. Saben que la clave para que ANGELA les vuelva a incluir en su testamento son los viñedos AGRETTI. En París, ANGELA invita a PHILLIP a acompañarla a NUEVA YORK, pero se niega a revelar qué piensa hacer allí.

En el laboratorio de Falcon Crest, COLE discute con CHASE ya que cree que su madre tiene razón respecto a la investigación. DARRYL y MAGGIE comentan los cambios que han realizado en el guión de ella y DARRYL insinúa que su relación con CHASE no es tan sólida como cree. Pero MAGGIE le asegura que se equivoca y que es ella quien tal vez haya cometido un terrible error. En casa de los GIOBERTI, EMMA entrega a CHASE información confidencial del Globe.

In the morning, Melissa and Lance linger in bed at Falcon Crest. Chao-li enters with breakfast and scolds Lance for wasting time in bed when he should be helping Chase with the inventory. After Chao-li exits, Melissa asks Lance if he has found his father. When Lance answers no, Melissa suggests that they ask Richard Channing to help them. Melissa and Lance also realize that they hold the key, the Agretti Vineyard, to getting written back into Angela's will. Back in Paris, in a sidewalk cafe, as Angie and Phillip enjoy the view, Angie invites him to join her in New York, but will not reveal what her business is there.

At the Falcon Crest Winery Lab, Cole argues with Chase about continuing with the investigation because Cole is beginning to think that his mother is right. At a Tuscany caf?, Darryl and Maggie are arguing about the changes made in Maggie's script. Darryl then insinuates that Maggie's relationship with Chase is not as strong as she led him to believe. Maggie tells Darryl that he is wrong, and that maybe she has made a horrible mistake. At the Giobertis´ house, Emma hands Chase more computer print-outs.

CHASE descubre que el Sheriff ROBBINS ha obtenido el informe forense de HENRI DENAULT y quiere hacerle unas preguntas a RICHARD. CHASE le explica que posee pruebas de que CARLO chantajeaba a RICHARD. Este, a su vez, le dicta a DIANA la necrológica de su padre adoptivo para el Globe, hasta que llegan el Sheriff y CHASE con la noticia de que encontraron señales de forcejeo en el cadáver de DENAULT. ROBBINS quiere examinar la ropa que llevaba RICHARD aquel día pero él les exige una orden judicial y los echa de su casa. Más tarde, RICHARD decide proporcionar a LANCE toda la información sobre TONY CUMSON. Pero tiene palabras más duras para DIANA: "Tus llamadas a DENAULT, informándole de mis movimientos durante el último mes, son la única explicación que necesito, cariño. No quiero la Compañía, no la necesito, y tampoco te necesito a ti. En realidad, aparte de tu voraz apetito sexual, has supuesto una terrible decepción.

LANCE revela a MELISSA que DIANA le llamó para decirle que TONY trabaja en SAN DIEGO como asesor de perforaciones marinas de una petrolera. LANCE le dice a MELISSA que, si JULIA va a verle, nunca se atreverá a volver a Falcon Crest. ANGELA interroga a CHASE sobre MAGGIE y DARRYL, y, cuando él intenta hablarle de trabajo, el Sheriff llega con una orden judicial y le pide que le acompañe a casa de RICHARD. CHASE advierte a ROBBINS que no sea imprudente: podrían intentar obtener pruebas más concretas, quizá en la mansión AGRETTI.

In the morning, Chase encounters Sheriff Robbins, who is running out of the county building. Robbins has obtained the forensic report on Henri Denault and wants to ask Richard Channing some questions. Chase explains that he has evidence that Carlo Agretti was blackmailing Richard. Richard is dictating Denault's obituary to Diana for the newspaper when Robbins and Chase arrive at Richard's house. After Robbins informs Richard that there were signs of struggle on Denault's body, Robbins wants to examine Richard's clothing from that day. In response, Richard tells them to get search warrants and slams the door in their faces. Later, Richard decides to give Lance all the information on Tony Cumson. But he has tougher words for Diana: "Your phone calls to Denault, reporting my every move for the past month, are all the explanation I need, sweetheart. I don't want the company, I don't need the company, and furthermore I don't need you. Actually, your voracious sexual appetite aside, you've been a terrible disappointment.2

At Falcon Crest, Lance tells Melissa that Diana Hunter called to tell him that Tony is working in San Diego as an offshore consultant for an oil company. Lance tells Melissa that if Julia travels to San Diego, she will never be able to show her face at Falcon Crest again. On the veranda, Angie questions Chase about Maggie and Darryl Clayton, and while Chase tries to discuss work, Sheriff Robbins drives up with a warrant and requests that Chase accompany him to Richard's house. Chase warns Robbins not to be rash; he cautions that they should try to obtain more concrete evidence. Chase then suggests that they might find some more clues at the Agretti's house.

CHASE le dice a MAGGIE que va a llevarla de vuelta a casa. LANCE y MELISSA se regodean ante las tierras que esperan llegar a poseer algún día, y él le muestra los papeles del divorcio que ha interceptado antes de que JULIA pudiera verlos. CHASE informa a MAGGIE que su incidente con los barriles no fue ningún accidente porque él oyó los pasos de alguien que se alejaba corriendo. ANGELA insiste en que VICKIE celebre su boda en Falcon Crest, mientras que CHASE sigue preocupado por el accidente y la desaparición de RICHARD. En realidad, este ha sido conducido a presencia del gran jefe de la Compañía: su propia madre JACQUELINE PERRAULT, que le revela la "verdad" sobre sus orígenes:

"Entonces es verdad que me vendiste. Me abandonaste." "La fortuna de mi último marido me dio la oportunidad de dejar de lado a DENAULT. Me hice con el control, sabiendo que así estaría más cerca de ti…" "Oh, estoy conmovido..." - le dice un sarcástico RICHARD. El día de la boda de VICKIE, un cómplice del asesino, FONG, aparece en Falcon Crest para desvelar la verdad: CARLO fue asesinado por JULIA para proteger la fortuna familiar. JULIA confiesa asimismo ser responsable de los demás crímenes frustrados y de su intención de matar a CHASE:

"Estás llena de sorpresas, ¿verdad, JULIA?" - pregunta CHASE. "Exacto. Y he guardado otra sorpresa sólo para ti" - dicho esto, dispara su pistola varias veces, pero los hombres se lanzan hacia ella y...en la siguiente escena, alguien es enterrado en Falcon Crest.

Chase tells Maggie that he is not taking her to the hotel, but home. Lance and Melissa ride horses and gaze at the land that they hope will be theirs someday. Lance shows Melissa the divorce papers that he had intercepted before Julia could see them. Chase tells Maggie that her close call with the barrels was not an accident because he had heard someone running away. Angie arrives and insists on having Vickie's wedding at Falcon Crest, while Chase is still concerned with the accident and Richard Channing's disappearance. Actually, he has been taken to the presence of the Cartel´s big boss: his own mother Jacqueline Perrault, who reveals the "truth" about his origins:

"Then you did sell me. You abandoned me!" "My last husband's fortune gave me enough to push Denault's aside. And I took over, knowing I would be closer to you…" "Oh, I'm touched" - says a sarcastic Richard. On VICKIE´s wedding day, an accessory of the murderer, FONG, shows up at Falcon Crest in order to expose the truth: CARLO was killed by JULIA, to protect the family fortune. Julia also confesses her responsibility of the other frustrated crimes and her intention to kill CHASE:

"You're really full of surprises, aren't you Julia?" - asks CHASE. "That's right. I've saved one more surprise just for you" - afterwards she shoots her gun several times, but the men rush towards her and...in next scene, somebody is buried at Falcon Crest.
