TOPICS DISCUSSED:

Financial Report -- Since Mike Sandstrum was sick, Susan gave a summary. The Association has $69,063 in the savings account, and a multi-year surplus (formerly called our "reserve fund") of $46,307. Year to date, the surplus is $3,546. There are three Association members who are behind on dues, but all are either making payments or have pending closing to bring the accounts current.

Trees on Common Grounds -- Three problem trees were discussed in particular: one near Joan Krauter and two near George Sinclair, John Whidden, and the Lesjaks. Ray reviewed the estimates he received to have these trees trimmed. The Board voted to approve this work at the estimated amount of $2,050. With this expenditure, the Board decided to re-launch the annual Common Ground Tree Maintenance program, commonly known as "Claudia's plan" because Claudia Quehl chaired the committee that developed the plan.

Social Report -- Len Sirotzki lamented that the only Association-sponsored events we can count on are the Garage Sales, and that's because George Sinclair keeps them going. The Ladies Tea (or Ladies Social as it was renamed), has been kept alive by Peg Mazza and the same group of volunteers. We have not had an annual picnic in a few years.

Social Committee -- Len passed around a couple of pages of ideas for social activities. We have many new homeowners in Hawthorn Park and it would be nice to meet them and get them involved. George volunteered to take Len's pages door-to-door. Len would like to form a Social Committee to make things happen. Especially it would be nice to make the Annual Picnic happen on May 22nd. If you would like to serve on the Social Committee, please call Len Sirotzki.

Next Meeting -- Since we are now on quarterly meetings, the next Board of Directors meeting will be Thursday, July 28th.
