Chick Publications has a biography of Jack Chick at http://chick.com/information/authors/chick.asp

From this official biography, we learn that after graduating from high school, he studied acting at the Pasadena Playhouse. He then spent three years in the Army, after which he returned to the Pasadena Playhouse. Here he met his wife Lynn, whose parents were then living in Canada. He worked at AstroScience Corporation in El Monte, California. His wife Lynn died 10 Feb 1998.

Not a lot on which to go, but let's see what we can do with it.

His wife listed as "Lola L Chick, born 6 Jan 1926, died 10 Feb 1998, last resided in Glendora, Los Angeles County" in the Social Security Death Index. As "Lola Lynn Chick" she entered the U.S. at Blaine, Washington, from Canada per a Resident Alien's Border Crossing Identification Card. On that card, she states that she was born 6 Jan 1926 at Tisdale, Saskatchewan, that she is married, and residing at 1511 S 4th in Alhambra, California.

The 1946 Alhambra City Directory lists, living at 1511 S 4th in Alhambra, not only "Jack Chick" but also "Thomas E Chick (Pauline O)" with Thomas listed as a "sign painter", offices at 2431 W Valley Blvd. Checking the 1940 census, I find, living in San Gabriel, Los Angeles County "Thomas E Chick age 36 born Arizona, Commercial Artist; Pauline O Chick age 36 born Oklahoma, Housewife; Jack T Chick age 15 son; Doris T Chick age 19 daughter; Pauline F Freas age 79 born Germany, mother-in-law, widow"

Pauline's parents: Horace and Pauline, are both buried in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Pauline herself appears to have died in Bellevue, Washington.

Thomas E Chick appears in the 1910 census of Los Angeles, the third child of Charles E Chick age 43 born California; and his wife Letha age 32 born Missouri. Charles is in the CADI born 8 Sep 1867 California, died 19 Dec 1942 Los Angeles. His father appears to be Samuel Brackett Chick who was residing in the Sacramento area in 1872.
