Lancaster Clyman

Lancaster Clyman was apparently a son of Bennett Hazel Clyman (1793-1849) by his wife Matilda Lancaster (1799-1840). The family moved from Virginia, to Ohio by the 1820s but then on to Danville, Vermillion County, Indiana by the mid 1830s. Lancaster with his more famous uncle James Clyman came to Oregon Territory where Lancaster on 15 Sep 1844 married Mary Manning, daughter of John Manning and his wife Luvicia Jane Collier. Mary had also been on this wagon train, which is probably how they met.

Lancaster, Mary and children all had moved on to Sonoma County, California by 1850 where they appear that year on the US Federal Census with three daughters, the youngest of whom was born in California.
