James Pope Wells was born 28 Nov 1860, probably in Randolph County, Arkansas; the seventh of nine children. On 4 Feb 1883 in Randolph County, he married Rosannah Bourland, both of them described them as of Elevenpoint Township in that county. After Rosannah died in 1933 there, James moved to Hanford, California and lived with his son until his own death on 23 Oct 1946 in Hanford. His body was shipped back for burial at Upshaw Cemetery, Dalton, Randolph County, Arkansas
